Anyone got any idea why Mitchell wasnt doing the breakfast show this morning, heard Gareth Brroks say he is doing it for 3 weeks until the new Breakfast show starts. Hope to god they havent binned him as along With Sir Clint of Boon he is a quality presenter.

He's no longer on the list of DJs on the xfm website so it looks like he may have given his last broadcast for the station

He started in June 2009, so maybe he was given 12 months and has either gone elsewhere or has not been retained.

Jason Manford and Mike McLean both did 12 months from memory so imagine it's the same situation, though in the past they've always made much more of a song and dance about leaving? Must admit that Mitchell's dithering was quite grating at times, plus he "did a Tony Blair" the other week when saying he used to sit in the Stretford End as a child after doing terribly in Super Fan

It did grate with me how he would go on about sport things that he clearly had no idea about. Just last week he talked about the (FIFA) World Cup finals and how we don't know eho England could play yet as they do a draw after the group stages.

Very true - at least Boon acknowledges that he hasn't got the first club about sports, but I suppose they can't get away with the DJ on both of their main shows using the same excuse.

Think Mitchell during the World Cup would have been unbearable for the reasons you've already stated, Iain.

That would have made him the perfect DJ for me. What has his sporting knowledge got to do with him being a good DJ? surely he is as knowledgable of the local music scene as anyone at the station and would/did get guests on the back of his personal friendships rather than them wanting to appear on XFM.

That aint never going to happen as he is too much of a loose cannon and can't be trusted not to totally go off on one as he did at Key 10pee, now if you'd have said James H Reeve then I would have been excited and for the people who think sporting knowledge is a pre requisite for being a host on an indie music station he must fit the bill perfectly.

Just hope they get someone decent as always found Mitchell to be good and his choice of music bang on.
