Guess shes a certainty to win in Salford & Eccles despite her 'indiscretions' and Labrokes have chalked her up at 1 to 12 . Thats 2 years Building Society Interest for some folk. Can't see her losing can you?

not really when you look at the opposition, Norman Owen even his own Libs in the townhall have broken away and formed their own party and he didn't have a clue about the Lib Dems policies when on TV, the Tory knows nothing about Salford and the Respect party (Hazel out) had a big TV covered party vote with about 15 people there to pick their candidate.

Pev I know that Hazel is a Reds supporter but if the Conservative knows nothing about Salford then Hazels cheque waving episode showed a distinct lack of knowledge about her constituents and their feelings.

I have to agree, she could have done it more quietly, but she was the first to pay back no arguing, unlike Tracey Laing Tory MP who made just over £1m from the sale of "second home" and owes £118,000 in tax, she has offered £25,000 as a goodwill gesture. On the other hand the expenses scandal (seperate to the above) the Tories on Average had to pay back £3700 each and Labour £2500 each, Hazel Blears £225. It was good of the BBC to go after all these dirty MPs and expose the expenses along with the freedom of information ACT, now it is Labour Conference in Manchester in September just ask how many rooms the BBC will have booked for its staff despite having a base here. Last time it was 81 rooms for the week at the Hilton, now these are also in a sense paid for by our "taxes" and should be subject to the same rules as Civil Servants on overnight stays which is value for money about £35 a night. Oh not defending what the MPs did just the hypocrisy of the BBC staff.

Good post Pev
Not a huge fan of Blears' but nor am I about to jump on the 'Hate Blears' bandwaggon without a decent amount of justification.

Love him or hate him, 163 consecutive appearances should make Stuart Littler a Salford legend in anyone's book
Constituency has been labour since about 1945 , once had 3 members . Salford North. Salford South & Salford West , Now it's amalgamated with Eccles with Ian Stewart stepping down.( Salford & Eccles ) . Party Candidates for 6th May :- Labour - Hazel Blears Independent ( Hazel out ) - Richard Carvath Trade Unionist & Socialist - David Henry English Democrats - Stephen Morris Independent - Joe O'Neill Liberal Democrat - Norman Owen Conservative - Matthew Sephton UKIP - Robert Wakefield BNP - Tina Wingfield
I'll vote for whoever turns up for the game on sunday ( that should boost the crowd by 9 )
