This months RLW has a brilliant article on the island of samoa after it was tore apart by a hurricane. Brought some wonderful memories when they interviewed the brother of former Reds star Fata Sini as his Mothers hotel was wrecked during the disaster. Well worth a read if you pick up a copy. He was one of my hero's when i was a child anybody else got fond memories of Fata. :ROCKS:

FATA FACTS

Full name: Iefata Sini - "My mother gave me a name from the Bible"

Born: December 24, 1966

Birthplace: Apia, Western Samoa

Career kick-start: A quick-fire pair of tries against England in the 1995 RU World Cup

Big break: Joined Salford on August 23, 1995

Try time: Scored 15 tries in 16 games as Salford stormed into Super League in 1996

Semi Reds: Was a member of the Salford side beaten 50-20 by St Helens in last year's Challenge Cup semi-final

Super Sini: Missed just one game in 1997 as the Reds tackled their debut season in Super League

Running man: Salford's top runner in 1997, gaining 2,187 metres

Fine nine: Bagged nine tries in 31 appearances last season

When passion and skill work together, the end result is often a masterpiece.

Really?! My memory must be getting worse?!?

Totally agree about Sini though, one of my fave Reds of all time!

 Love him or hate him, 163 consecutive appearances should make Stuart Littler a Salford legend in anyone's book

I think I remember him taking a conversion & he kicked it so hard it was still going up when it hit the back of the North stand (I could have just dream't that though)

A complete joy to watch and the kind of player you wish you had available every season.

Wikipedia still has him playing for Workington Town in NL2

I remember his debut. He must have dropped the ball about three times. However, whenever he caught it, he was like a bulldozer. He kicked a few goals if memory serves. I am pretty sure there was a game when he kicked about four goals in one game.

Thank you, Malc

My Wife's cousin played for the reserves in the mid 90's (same time as Malc) and I never bought the last shirt from when we were Salford RLFC. I was gutted when I found out about the name change but he managed to get me one of the play-worn shirts. I got Fata Sini's. Unfortunatley the number 2 came off in the wash but to me it's an irreplaceble piece of history that i was so lucky to obtain.
