ratchford on the bench for smith also cashmere on the bench for big phil . phil as had a shocking start to the season doesnt look fit enough any coments
Great to have Stefan Ratchford and Ray Cashmere back this weekend.
Philip Leuluai has been out of form so far this season and I would imagine he will find it tough going getting back into the first team thats unless we have any injury problems in the coming weeks ahead.

He's looked ok.
Thought Jewitt was blowing up a bit after about 10 minutes on the field. Any comments...
To be fair to Jewitt he made a couple of errors trying to offload at Quinns but he looked like someone playing his first game and trying too hard. Glad he has stuck with him, I agree re Leuluai looked poor to me to date, great news that Cashmere is looking like being back.

I dont think that Phil has been 'shocking' tbh. Seeing as he's been a first team choice for the start of the season it seems that in training he's been out performing the younger props or has a much better work ethic. The younger lads might need to start taking notes.
my uncle was down in australia for the world cup and got talking to mr mcrae, he asked him if phil was doin the job for him and he said he was but like a typical kiwi (correction?) he cant keep going and does need a blow more often than others.
dunno how much is in the fact about the kiwis, but personally i dont think hes doing noticeably bad.

Odd as i've always thought the Kiwis looked like the biggest natural athletes, for me you need to give Big Phil a wind up before he comes on - get the crowd involved (chants or something with plenty of hoopla) and he'll run the ball in harder than anyone we have in the squad, Phil could be a game winner for us as if we used him right maybe running the outside channels that Coley did in his pomp and he would be devastating.
Me and are kid (TheButcher) putting the world two rights.

Big Phil is definitely our strongest runner, but he does look to be carrying more than a few too many pounds at the moment. Even at his fittest asking him to perform the role Coley did would be unfair. Not that we should forgive Coley, but he was a special player and would have been a much bigger name in Rugby League if he'd left us sooner.
I agree about Kiwis, or more specifical south sea islanders, do seem to run out of steam quicker than others. A younger player with his ability, under the right tutelage, would definitely be a serious force to be reckoned with. Similar to that of James Graham, possibly? Unfortunately for us he isn't young and we don't have the coaching team to get the best out of him.
I firmly believe if the coaches could get the best out of our team, Salford would be serious force to be reckoned with. We just don't have the right balance of people in the right positions though. Cashmere, Big Phil, Luke Adamson, Fitzy, Tyrer, Ratchford, Holdsworth, Talau, Henry and Broughton all look to have something about them. We need to harness their abilities and combine them with the rest alot better.
