Can anyone think of any amateur players that in the last ten years to today that may have made it as Professional of Semi-Pro.

I remember a couple of Folly players who could have least have made semi-pro but didn't take there chances.

There have bee many : Irlam Hornets Steve Davis, Gaz Graham, Ian Potts, Stuart Shovelton.

Langworthy, Paul Monks, Steve Dickenson, Roy Fhicket, Chris Bleakley

Eccles, Shinny, Jimmy Campbell, John Mc, Neil Macpherson, Matt Bateman,

Folly Lane : Dave horrocks, Dean Pickup.

Where are they all now ???

i played against Danny Barton who played for Folly. Think he was at salford for a bit. I know he went to play for Blackpool.

Played for Eccles I believe?

What about people like Peter Simpson and Lockett?

Martin Scholes could of made it professional

albeit against Under 5's, and with Martin he literally will be Under them!

Going back donkeys years ago there used to be a young kid I gave a lift to Little Hulton to play called Tommy ????? he used to live on Weaste bridge who was a brilliant scrum half who looked to me to have been of a good enough standard to play in the lwoer divisions. Never saw him play above that level which was surprising.

A few of the Eccles lads signed pro around the time they were promoted to the National Conference Prem. Paul Raftery went to Barrow and is now at Swinton I think. The full back went to a Yorkshire club, cant remember his name.
