Well not many games left of this season. Despite last seasons successes i generally tolerated it rather than totally enjoyed it. The occasional tense games and finals could not make up for the long swathes of the mundane but it finished well so i guess i enjoyed that and had Super League to look forward too. So how come in a season featuring some stunning wins, do i find myself wishing the last half a dozen or so games to come and go as quickly as possible? While not expecting to set the world on fire and ackowledging we are much better now than in the first seven or so games of the season and we are about where i expected to be in the league, ive just not enjoyed it as much as i thought i would. Is it the Mylergate affair..is it the stadium..is it the impression of a divided fan base on these boards..is it that our coach fails to convince...is it the distinct lack of atmosphere at home games this year..or is it that i have finally run out of caring. I honestly have never felt so apathetic as i do right now. But I will continue to go,i will continue to shout, cheer.boo, spend a fortune on warm beer and cold chips...its just that i dont really know why anymore?......
except its in the blood..it has been for forty years..and to those thinking of not going again based on the emotion of it all, do you really think you can live without it? If you can then i genuinely respect that...but i cant stop going. I will go as i always have through thin and thinner because despite all i have said above Salford is my team The Willows is my temple and those who have excelled or burst a bollock trying in a Red shirt..my sporting heroes. Wilkinson Myler and McRae will be history one day..same as Snape Bettinson Watkins Dixon Gibson Blakeley et al. Individuals come and go they always will but i wont turn my back on the CLUB i love. Despite today and other hearbreaks i am Red i will be Red tomorrow and Red when i die.

Good post, although this season has been far from a disaster i agree on all the above mentioned points, mylergate has overshadowed the season and the stadiumgate has just topped it all off!with only a few games left it does look like we will finish 13th(although a couple of weeks ago after saints i thought we had the chance to climb one or 2 places).Whats making things worse as the season draws to a close is that we all know a good few players wont be around next year and to them with nothing to play for its as if there just going through the motions before they move on!
I do wish that our slug of a coach would like to at least give a couple of players who havent played yet there chance in the limelight! But no doubt against wakey next week it will be the same team we have seen today!
I will also keep the faith for the club i love and be renewing my season ticket, lets all keep our chins up and,,heres to our stadium being half built this time next year, the slug seeing sense in his team selection and tactics,Myler being loaned out to London skolars from wire,Father teds newest batch of overseas recruits steering us towards the playoffs and the shed bouncing every otherweek as the willows becomes a fortress again for hopefully its last season for real this time!!!
Keep the faith

SOMEBODY SAID that it couldn’t be done But he with a chuckle replied That “maybe it couldn’t,” but he would be one Who wouldn’t say so till he’d tried. So he buckled right in with the trace of a grin On his face. If he worried he hid it. He started to sing as he tackled the thing That couldn’t be done, and he did it!

funny u should mention relegation,as was talking about leighs situation today, and was bought up that the top dogs at the rfl will prob make championship and div 1 into one league if leigh do finish in the relegation spots,as they will be considered to big a club in your new ground to go down lol!

Love him or hate him, 163 consecutive appearances should make Stuart Littler a Salford legend in anyone's book

Whoa, agree with all of this. I reckon there's a few eternal optimimists still knocking around at the Willows. And we WILL be proved right 1 day. We WILL I tells ya.
Could some of the malaise come from the steadily more monotonous play of SL games (despite who is playing)? In NL you saw more passing moves and you felt that 1-13 were not clones of the same identikit player.
That last try of ours yesterday was an exception.
