I am still wondering, even now. Do the refs not bother with 10 metre rule any more at the play the ball any more. Its a disgrace.

I thought the ref rarely went back 10 metres last night and coupled with an enthusiastic Castleford defence we were often getting tackled before moving anywhere near 5 metres forward - not really much you can do about it, just thought that he could have taken the defensive lines a bit further back at times which would have given the forwards a bit more to work with.

One thing I picked up on was Ryan Hudson constantly grabbing and pushing our players at the play the ball just as the tackle had been completed which surely should have been penalised?

I also noticed this with Ryan Hudson last night.

The Ref let him get away with it and in my opinion one of our forwards should have taken him to task during the game.

As for the Ref last night I have no comment to make about him other than he is not up to Super League standards yet.

Refereeing anomolies aside we contributed a lot to our own downfall last night. As stated above the 10 was very skinny, we took the ball standing still so often last night but did not as suggested create a bigger ten ourselves. We also dropped the ball coming away from our own line more than they did. We had more than enough ball and territory in the second half to have won the game but our execution was very shoddy. I know refs and touch judges dont always help but we have to learn to adapt. That is what this season is all about. reacquainting ourselves with the nuances and tactics of super league, finding out which players can or cant or wont help us go forward next season. As for playing personel Castleford had a form stand off playing at stand off we had a form stand off playing at centre. I am prepared to write off some of this seasons harder to understand moments IF we learn from them and look to put them right next year.
Horrible night all round last night

Apart from the numerous times Cas were offside the one thing which foxed me completely was when the ball got kicked out of touch late in the second half by what looked like a cas player and ended in cas getting the scrum. Did anyone see that any different to me and the rest of the shed who were going berserk over it.

Did the Salford player drop the ball before he kicked it forward ?

If he did then the Touch Judge got it right.

Hopefully someone who was a bit closer than me can confirm this one way or the other.

As far as I could see I think it was Wilshere who put a kick through behind the defence for McGilvray only for a Castleford player to blast the ball into touch which should have been our head and feed. The fans knew it and the players knew it as they were protesting the decision also. The ref obviously didn't see as he had to ask the clueless touch judge who still thought that we had put the ball out.

Thats how I saw it :? The way the ball was kicked out had to be a purposeful kick by a Cas player. Oh well

It was never in a million years a Cas scrum. Huge cock up from the officials on that one.

We'd probably still have dropped the ball from the resulting scrum, though.

If that is the case then I would expect the Salford officials to ask Stuart Cummings to take a look at the VT and if that proves is was a bad call by the Ref then I would expect last nights Ref to be stood down next week.

WILL THIS HAPPEN....I DOUBT IT.
