Salford Football Cub was founded in 1879 as the continuation of the older Cavendish Football Club, of whose members the Salford club was mostly composed. Cavendish was based at the Clowes Hotel, Trafford Road, Salford, and the secretary was Mr. A.A. Sutherland whose idea it was to change the name to the Salford Rugby Club. This extremely scarce history traces the formation of the club and provides a record, season by season from 1880-81, of all matches played and a list of players.

Small 8vo. xii + 148pp. 24 full page portraits. Rebound in navy blue goat skin, gilt title to spine, marbled end-papers, original wrappers not preserved. Contents well foxed and thumbed, stains and grubby marks throughout, pencil annotations to text. Very scarce.
