At last nights meeting, the obvious 1st question was, WHAT happened on Saturday night after the great win against St's.
Luke, spoke for all the players to say, the mistakes put the team under constant pressure, & the team didn't handle the conditions as well as Celtic did.
Its been reported that the St's coach went in at half time & really had a go at his team for being behind, what did Shaun have to say at half time after squandering the lead & the way we were playing the conditions.
Scott & Shaun gave us some pointers as to what we were doing & telling us how to rectify it.
The team appeared to be bunching in the middle of the park in the latter half of the game as if they didn't know what to do.Luke said after watching the video he could see what you mean, but the team were trying to push up & it didn't come off.
The team have got the ability but not consistent enough, Mark Henry said nearly every team are trying to get some consistency at the moment, we play well for a couple of games & then lose.
When asked if its a case as we have beat top teams, do the team find it hard to get motivated against lower clubs, they all said no, doesnt make a difference, we were well up for the game against Celtic, but things didn't go our way. When the score gets to 24--12 does the game plan go out the window, they say you have to try & get back in the game but doesnt always happen.
Jeremy was asked if he is enjoying S/L & England, said thouroughly enjoying it here, the club & the players really great.
Asked Jeremy what his prefered position, he likes to play in the half's but also enjoys playing hooker, maybe thats a position he would be happy to move to, enjoyed when he has covered that spot.
Next asked if he came with an injury, said he had a bit of a niggling knee injury but its fine now. When asked if he easily gets wound up, after the rest of the players laughed, he said possibly but he is calming down now.
When asked why he doesnt make breaks from the base of the scrum or was he told not to by coaching staff, he replied, it all depends who the opposition have in the line at the scrum, we have some set moves but as said, depends how the other team have lined up.
He was next asked why he doesn't attack the line more, he answered, that for most of the games this season we have been chasing the game & you don't always get enough ball to do that.
He was finally asked if he is the dark horse to win Stu Littler's X Factor event, said he could be.
Luke was thanked from all the fans for signing a new contract, said he didn't want to play anywhere else, loves it at Salford.
A question was put to him, was he worried that his impressive defensive efforts may stunt the rest of his game.
Luke said he has worked hard on his defensive game for the last 2 years & is now building his offensive side to the game.
Mark was asked his preffered position, said he is a centre, but as we are light on bodies in the halfbacks he plays where needed. Next was asked if his injury was not 100% healed when season started, said probably not, had a couple weeks rest & some rehab & is fine now & he is enjoying his time here.
Both him & Jeremy have got another year on their contracts.
Lee Jewitt was asked has he changed his tackling technique as he doesnt appear to give as many penalties away, said he had been told last season to look at his tackling & calm it down, which he has, but feels its to the detriment of his game, doesnt feel as effective when on the park as his aggression has always been there.
Next asked about drug testing at clubs, said that they usually inform the clus just the day before a game & then they just pick squad numbers not names to be tested, at the Wigan game 3 Salford players were tested along with some obvious Wigan players, They all agreed it should be done
as often as possible, & Luke has been tested 3 times this season.
Hope all your questions were answered for those who didn't make it.
Next meeting 10th August. |
