Been reading league weekly today and noticed an article on young players. It's not often Brian Noble has a good idea but he said that players under the age of 21 shouldn't count towards the salary cap. What better incentive to keep young players not only at a club but also in the 13 a side code. It also seems a good way of getting more lads into the game. How do you all feel about this? (I fully expect it to be shot down by you all  )

It's a good idea but as a Wigan fan i don't trust Noble on this issue.

If young players wages didn't count on the cap i'm not sure that would encourage him to play more of our at Wigan, if anything completley the opposite as it would allow him more space to move under the salary cap so that he could bring some more NRL stiffs in.

It's be good for clubs with coaches who are genuine about backing young talent.

It's a good idea in theory but then can you imagine Warrington/Wigan etc being able to offer Richie Myler whatever deal they wanted without it counting towards their salary cap? It would certainly encourage more teams to promote youth to the first team but any time that someone special comes along the smaller clubs would be priced out even more so than they already are.

Is the salry cap the thing we dont spend anywhere near, and other teams keep having accounting problems like our MPs that mean they forget theyve spent to much!!!

Seriously i find the comment a bit rich from Noble when Wigan's backs line and half its pack has normaly been born slighty south of Wigan in Austrialia and New Zealand.

No really im being serious its a good idea if it promoted young players, but maybe it should only be in place for homegrown players who stay at a club they started with professsionally

I call them when they deserve it,
I praise them when they deserve it.
I support the club not individuals.

I think it's a good idea but should limited to players produced by the Club (say since 16) for exactly this reason. It has been talked about down under for a few years now but hasn't been implemented.

I agree if it was ever implemented I think that it should be the above.
