Do fans want Myler to go?
He is a young impressionable guy & with money that is being offered to him he probably thinks he's won the lottery. If rumour is true & he is being courted by "the Warrington money men" then his head will be turned, especially if Offiah is also filling his head with all HIS bulls##t, which comes down to money for Offiah's £%%
If Myler is undecided & he hears Salford fans saying "let him go if he wants" that may make his mind up, but, if Salford fans start chanting for him to stay, who knows??
A player like Myler comes around once in a fans lifetime of watching your team & as my other half states, He has waited 30years to see someone like Myler play at the Willow's again & we fans shouldn't let him go without a fight.
If he really wants to go, so be it, & good luck to him, but as Martyn Sadler wrote in his column this week, it doesn't always work by moving , just remember Danny Orr, fantastic at Castleford, crap when he went to Wigan.
We all think it is Offiah who is causing this unsettling with Richie, if it happens & the club say it was his influence, then Offiah should not be welcome at the club & the fans should voice their anger at him, not at Richie Myler.
So, what do you all think, we should get behind Richie & let him know the fans want him to stay.
I remember the great steve blakeley leaving salford in 2000 for a bigger club/more money??? made 4 starts + 6 sub appearences for wire, then saw the light and came back home.
But only because I realise that the lad has to make the most of a short career (Even if you stay injury free) I don't blame him for that, and he has shown that he has ambition by cutting loose from Widnes when the poop hit the fan over there to come to us. Another rung on the ladder has been opened-up for him and I'd be surprised if he didn't take it.
As much as we would love him to be loyal to our club if you look at it from his point of view, it could be a risky venture sticking with us. All he needs is a dip in form and/or a long-term injury and he would be forgotten as quick as he has risen. Saying that, a transfer brings with it pressure of a different kind and statistically the majority of 'next big things' tend to slip on their arses and are cast-off into the mists of obscurity.
As for getting behind him, I don't see why not. He is still a Salford Player as it stands. It wont make one iota of difference to his decision anyway, I would personally just get behind the team as a whole as they have proved that Salford is not just the Richie Myler show.
Show the rest of them some loyalty yourselves and show them what we think of them as a team beyond the media-frenzy surrounding Myler...
If he stays... and continues to be as good as he has been and maybe better... we will probably be left with a Ronaldo situation before he went to Madrid in the fact that there will always be speculation as to when he is going to leave for bigger and better things. That is likely to unsettle both player and club in the long term... so if he signs a 3 year contract that isn't going to mean anything. All it will mean is that for the next 18 months he'll be raking in a lot more money, and then the speculation will be rife again... with 18 months left of his current contract people are talking about him going now... so why perhaps triple his wage for the next 18 months just to be in the same position again in 18 months time... having spent a lot more money that just keeping him on what he's earning now. Lets just say this....
(Based on estimations)
He's on £50k per year now.
He'll pick up £75k in wages before he leaves (18 months wages).
We let him go at the end of his contract and pick up perhaps £20k
The next 18 months will therefore cost us £55k (wages minus fee)
on the other hand...
We offer him £150k per year for 3 years now. This would start immediately.
Over the next 18 months he'll earn £225k... a difference of £150,000 to end up exactly where we are now with a ton of speculation. Is it worth it ?
We then continue to pay him £175k for the remaining 18 months with him unsettled again because everyone wants him.
He goes for free.... leaving us having paid £450,000 over 3 years as oppose to letting him go now with a transfer fee... or releasing him at the end of his current contract.
Is having Myler for the next 3 years worth £395,000 more than letting him go at the end of the current contract ?... or raking in a good wedge of cash now with a fee?
Another thing... if there is any doubt in a players mind that he may want to play somewhere else... I don't want them. If Myler wants to leave... no amount of chanting will keep him as he's such a confident player... he'll believe that they'll chant his name wherever he goes... only there will be more people doing it. We are lucky to have Ratchford who many believe is the better all round player... and it seems that he WANTS to be here.
Don't get me wrong... if he's stays then we will get some benefits ... if he doesn't... I'm not bothered. First and foremost I prefer the club to survive rather than pay out heavy ransoms on players... because after all... that's what is happening here... we're being held to ransom.

Granted I'm not bother either way about Myler and sick of hearing about him but I would like something answered.
With Myler still being under contract till the end of next season is it legal that Offiah is touting him out to other clubs, is that not a breach of contract?
Personally I'd just not sell him, keep him for the rest of his contract and then deal with it, it gives us time to find a replacement.
By then there will be another new superstar and he'll be happy to get another contract with us.

Shirley, I cannot understand how any fan would want Richie Myler to leave the club and if he does turn out for us again all the fans should get behind him for as long as he is with us as he has done nothing wrong apart from linking up with an agent who appears to have no scruples.
As for Martin Offiah, the least said the better as his conduct with regards Richie Myler is on a par with some of our MPs the only difference being that the MPs could hide behind the fact that they were acting within the rules whereas Offiah is definately not.
The RFL should investigate his conduct in this affair and if he has broken the rules everyone should be informed about what has gone on and just who has been involved in the matter and the RFL should take any action deemed necessary.
if he does not play against cas next week then he will go because i cannot see how a bruised heel has ruled him out for 4 week(if he dunt play cas) then after cas it would be very intresting to see as the mighty salford play wire!!

Im sure us the fans will support the team if he wears the red shirt again.
We gave him the best offer of a contract we could, and his represenative turned it down, we cant go any higher so its up to Mr Myler himself, be the boss and decide your own future or be pimped around to the highest bidder.
If/when he plays for us again we'll know straight away if his head/heart is in it, yes players give 100% every game because their proffessional yadda yadda yadda but you can tell by the little things they do like:
1) If they miss a tackle players sometimes lye there and watch the move unfold sometimes they make a half arsed effort to get up, switched on and committed the'd scramble to their feet and try and run back.
2) When they dont have the ball or arnt involved in a move they mince around in back play, switched on and committed they look alert and ready if a offload or a 1/2 chance is created.
Myler has shown 100% commitment to the cause imo before this warrington transfer sarga erruped by being busy all the time, we'll know if he wants to stay.
I hope he does for the sake of Richie Myler, us and Rugby league in this country, the boy is still learning his trade at the top level and needs time to develop he'll get the chance with us.
