As has been said, not a great game. Hull are obviously low on confidence and the lack of atmosphere showed their crowd were anxious.

Lots of possession for Hull but a fine defensive effort. When we had the ball we made some poor choices - killer passes were attempted, when possession would have been more valuable. One or two players didn't perform to their best levels (no names), but although it was frustrating (as it felt like Hull were there for the taking), can't be too disappointed. Our team now looks well drilled, fit and a bit of confidence will take us to that next level - McRae deserves some credit here.

No miracles but we have a team that can compete in Superleague. I am already looking forward to the Udders game - more than I can say for the early season matches. Come on Salford!

Salford looked good when near the line, and the 2nd try was a very well worked quick passing move. Myler put in some good kicks also.

but you let yourselves down badly with so much laying on, you gifted us loads of penalties and to be honest we're lucky to not get someone sinbinned. All that time wasted/field position lost cost you the game.

to be honest it looked like two bottom 6 sides, we had more of the ball but struggled to score, whereas Salford took their chances better near the line but kept giving the ball away with cheap penalties.

I think that about sums it up for me, a fair review of the match. A poor game played by two poor sides reffed by a poor ref (in a quality stadium mind)

Just a note regarding lying on / holding down (and not being straight at the play the ball for that matter), something someone told me a long time ago, you only ever spot it when it's the opposition doing it and never your own side, funny that. Both team were guilty of it, and believe me I'm furious at the amount of times we did it, but one side was penalised more times for it.

One other reffing issue that drove me mad tonight and has done most of the season, the referee penalised us 3 times for not playing the ball correctly and FC once, now your not telling me that on only 4 occasions this evening the ball wasn't played correctly, either they penalise them all or none at all, it's just slowing the game down.

I thought we did some good things tonight with ball in hand and defended really well for long periods but we just lack some class and speed out wide on attack.

Saying that, and I know all teams go through it, without Adamson, Parker, Talau, White and Ratchford then having to move to centre, in a squad as small as ours we are always going to struggle <----not an excuse BTW. A few decent performances IMO tonight, Henry, Cashmere, Goulding to name a few.

As for FC, well I can't work you lot out, you've good players and good young players at that, but you look to lack a leader and at times were very pedestrian and a little clueless if you don't mind me saying. Is it coaching or the players?

If either team had met a good side tonight we'd have been hammered i'm sure you'll all agree.

We lack a halfback, as Thorman is absolutely woeful. One of the worst players I've ever seen play for Hull. We have struggled to create anything since Cooke left. But luckily Long is coming next season.

we also lack leadership as Radford does little to rally the side on the field. We've not replaced players like Kearney and Swain who led the team previously. But we have to hope that Fitzgibbon adds experience and leadership next year.

we are very slow, clueless and aren't going to make the playoffs. Our squad isn't good enough to be challenging for the title, but a better coach would be getting more out of the side we have, Agar is out of his depth.

and yes both sides would have been hammered by a better side. At least you lot can claim its your first year back in SL, we have no excuses.

Hull FC very fortunate tonight - 1 try v 2 tries from the Reds plus the disallowed Ratchford score. Up and Under from Smith - Tony let it bounce and Ratchford came from behind the other lads to score. Very poor decision in my view. Even so - constant driving again up the middle - absolutely crazy when we have talent on the fringes.

Swain had a stinker but Sidlow went well as did Goulding & Smith. Myler very quiet and HFC forwards constantly running at him tonight - very noticeable.

As for Beaumont - Pen Count 3-4 first half and 4-9 second half. He murdered us again. Have we had a favourable pen count all season?

Good summary.

Two poor teams last night, either would have been mullered by a half decent team.

It wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if the officials 'got it wrong' because of what happened in the cup...

Well actually there first try shouldn't of been a try according to the commentators on the radio

It was a very poor game, especially the 1st half and given our inability to keep hold of the ball and some of the ridiculous decisions we made towards the end, I don't think we would have deserved to win.

I thought we were quite unlucky with some of the refereeing decisions and most 50/50 calls seemed to go against us almost every time. And like you said we were pinged on several occasions for slowing the game down but both teams were guilty of it.

The incorrect play the ball thing is completely pedantic and a rule that really annoys me sometimes. There's a large number of incorrect play the balls in every game if you're going by the letter of the law. The rule should only be enforced when teams are using it to their advantage as a quick play the ball, not when a player has been held down and all the players are pretty much back in the defensive line.

I don't know whether it was our good defence or Hull's complete inability to do anything on our line but to only concede 14 points given the sheer amount of possession they had, we did quite well and I did think that our goalline defence at times was very good.

Some of our decisions towards the end were confusing to say the least. What exactly were Wilshere and Alker doing kicking the ball that early in the tackle count I don't know.

I honestly didn't think the game was as poor as some people are saying. I know it was never inspirational, but there were two teams out there last night that defended very well.

Both teams are rather limited on attack. Hull played a slightly more expansive game and were much more organised on defence as their line moved up much faster than ours did. (No surprise there then!) Their kick and chase game was better than ours too. We made too many handling errors and when we failed to find touch from one of our penalties that just about summed up the night!! Talk about self inflicted wounds!

Both sides were guilty of trying to slow down the play the balls - but it seemed to me that one side got penalised more for it.

We struggle to cope with injuries and missed Adamson, Talau and Parker. We need to sort out the centre positions. Are Goulding and Henry centres or wingers? Are they wingers because we've got nobody else?

I thought that Littler was one of our better performers last night - and there's no way he 's a second row forward. Our pack was out-muscled but we showed a lot of guts in standing up to their bigger pack and we did very well with our try line defence.

I do think we have made some progress this season, though not as much as all of us would have wanted.

Ken Gill could make the ball talk.

Got to agree our complete lack of ability to break the opponents down on there own try line is awefull, we just dont look like scoring.
