OK, I've managed to book tickets with Virgin trains direct from Manchester Picc to Edinburgh Waverley, out on 29th of April and back on the 4th of May for £10 each way. I've booked three APEX tickets but dont know how many are remaining if anyones interested?
Hotels in Edinburgh were far too expensive considering it would be me the mrs and my 17 year old daughter who would have had to have a seperate room, so I've managed to book a Luxury Prestige 12 foot wide 8 berth caravan at Seton Sands, 10 miles outside Edinburgh for the whole duration for £355.00 (forgot, I got a mate in travel who got me a discount down to £310.00 for it), it was the last one remaining. Using the word caravan doesnt sound too exclusive but looking at it on the web it looks the dogs b*ll*x so shouldn't be a problem.
Anyway I'm finally sorted for both Perpignan and Edinburgh so I just hope the players put in as much effort as I've done.
this will not be the end, or even the beginning of the end.
It is merely the end of the beginning

about 3/4 of a mile from my current gaff mate. be warned, with the roadworks in town it'll take you about an hour and a half each way on the bus. no.26 will take you from the caravan park gates to outside the ground for £1.20 each way or £3 for any bus all day

Thanks for the bus info baldfella, I'm really looking forward to Edinburgh, not for the game itself but for what everyone tells me is a beautifull place to visit, hence why I'm staying as long. I was thinking of getting a taxi back to Seton Sands after the games on Saturday after a few drinks, do you have any idea what that may cost?

.
I booked hotel rooms back in December and there were few choices then !
Edinburgh is a 'proper' tourist destination, a big Conference City and the May Bank Holiday Weekend will have filling hotel rooms even before and Magic Weekend was officially launched.
Anyway heading up to N Yorks to stay over at a mate who's a Leeds Rhino's fan then, on up to the game Saturday, back on into Town to hit the 'real ale trail', Sober up for Sunday afternoon's Leeds game then more of the same, amble back Monday in time to explain to the misses what just off to see Salford really meant ...

dunno, onlybeen here a few months and only used a taxi when bladdered.. best part of £30 to my mates up the road. bus is quicker in the evening, and runs until about 4:30 am so i always use that
caravans are spot on. It's about 20 mins bus ride from city centre
complete nightmare to get back to at 2am though.
That's where we're staying - wanted to stay in these wigwams that they have for hire but they were fully booked so the tent's coming down from the attic - looking forward to it though
