Just a thought but maybe the fact the club are discounting tickets for the saints game and are talking about a party might just mean that they will make the announcement live on Sky before the game.

Salford Council appear to be raising the funds to buy it from Godliman Watson once the move to Barton has taken place

Yes we know it was sold to Watson, but this discussion refers to the claim that it has been sold to Salford Council which it hasn't!! It's irrelevant anyway to the new stadium.

Let me answer that by asking you a question -

Why - unless contracts have been sorted - would the club make the announcement?

--------------------------------------
The Willows hasn't been sold.

Yes it has.

--------------------------------------
How many times has this build started and been announced? First time was Dave Tarry on the BBC website in 2000 saying they would be in by 2003. Must have been half a dozen start dates given.

The History of this long drawn out situation has been well documented. There have been Hurdles of immense proportions to overcome. From John Prescott, RCD & Knotweed yet the club are still batting.

------------------------------------

You yourself said March this year not long back...........well? -

Yes true but I was only the monkey not the organ grinder. As it happens remediation work has been continuing so maybe I was half right.

--------------------------------------

Surely there would be announcements everywhere of the contract being awarded and work starting? Places like Peel's website, the MEN, Salford Advertiser, BBC North West Tonight, Granada, etc etc. There's nothing anywhere apart from a very fact devoid promo for a game on the SCR website.

Why? Its not National News at Election time such as Bottlers efforts in Botchdale yesterday. As you say there have been false dawns so again ask yourself why did the club make the announcement.

You sound very interested in the situation. Will you be wanting a season ticket or a Box at Barton. Ten will be available and I believe the annual rate will be very reasonable.

-----------------------------------------

How's the archaeological dig going?

Fine but no Roman Gold Coins found

------------------------------------------

Does the Salford club really hold it's fans in such contempt that it thinks they will swallow this guff yet again?

Not at all - thats why they have produced the message in the first place.

-------------------------------------------

Scanners - unfortunately you are on a loser this time with your mates - your sabre rattling is of no consequence as the steamroller continues on its path out of Weaste.

The club has announced work starting soon. They have done this several times before. So yet again can you answer how if there is no money or contractor in place, how a completion date can be given?

Not to Salford Council it hasn't.

Sorry to burst your bubble. I was at the Trafford Centre last weekend. There is no activity of any kind on the site. There hasn't been any since Wilko was filmed two years ago before the first round licences were given out. No plant, now sign of workmen, e.g portakabins, absolutely zilch.

Keep on kidding yourself. It's a major project for Salford and the game, but doesn't get mentioned anywhere other than a very vague piece on the club website. It's not going to start any time soon. The money isn't in place to do anything. There's no contracts signed to build it. It's a pipe dream.

The club must think Salford fans are stupid, and clearly by you believing what they are saying, they are pretty accurate.

How do you know that no contractor/money is in place? Kindly state your source. Suggest you are just rumour mongering. Have you been down to the Irlam traffic lights just past Boysnope GC? Site of the new road? Wonder where that is going then?

I answered your question - dont try & change your original question.

No activity expected at the Trafford Centre as we will be playing miles away. As previously pointed out they have been sorting out the remediation of the ground surface which was formerly the site of sewage works. No plant is expected on site until later in the year.

Believe what you will - maybe others know a bit more.

I see youve been on the Forum for 3 weeks and have made about 200 posts. I can only surmise what your ultimate objective is and that is to push Widnes`s case for a Franchise.

I twigged a couple of weeks back that Scanners is an intelligent fella who will go out of his way to use his fairly decent intellectual capabilities to criticise anything pro-Salford. Not that his efforts are of any use whatsoever on here. :?

Scanners, you're most probably a decent chap, but you appear to be developing a fixation on Salford RL. Posting a continuous stream of critical comments without an ounce of subjectivity.

I'm happy to read your posts but on the proviso that you stop sounding like a political spin-doctor, completely partisan in your rhetoric. In other words, give us a compliment once in a while will you. Otherwise it simply gets boring.

Opinion voiced and RP leaves the forum to get on with his revision. Peace out.

Yes. A complete pipe dream. I assume it's standard practice to put pipe dreams out to tender.

I can confirm this scheme is definitely out to Tender as the Central division of the company I work for are pursuing this scheme.

Didn't William Webb Ellis pick up the ball and run, someone should really tell Rugby Union.
