It just depends on how the rfl want to play it?
Big club = big crowd might = defeat = lower crowd next time
Smaller club = smaller crowd might = win = bigger crowds next time

I made the point that Leighton Samuels was a recipe for disaster before they got the license and I have unfortunately been proved correct. He has no track record of medium to long term involvement in RL (unlike JW etc) and that alone should have meant Celtic (/Crusaders - whatever) spent another three years in NL1 to prove they had solid foundations in place.
PSG deja vu anyone?
Technically Wrexham is not part of the traditional RL heartlands but in reality the people of Wrexham/North Wales already have easy access to Super League via St Helens.
I totally agree with this.......and quite how Widnes and their fans must be feeling hardly bares thinking about. Refuse them a licence...give one to a fledgling club in South Wales, and then possibly allow them to relocate over 100 miles north in direct opposition to Widnes, is one surefire way to antagonize people.

One thing that strikes me in all this is that havent they got a good young batch of kids coming through the lower ranks? will they want to follow the higher paid professionals North to live or forthat matter will the club be able to afford to relocate them all. This could bode well for RL in Wales if the new lower league team gets given the go ahead, and should they end up with mainly quality young Welsh kids playing it can only in the long run aide the game at international level in Wales.

all this movin about, a club needs roots in a community to survive, a chairman or owner who in the short term of 5-10 years expects to lose money when starting a business in sport and at least 20 years+ of fans who have experienced the highs and lows, its all peaks and trofs and it seems to me any new business franchise is pulled when its in a troff.
they were starting to build somthin in bridgend now it has to start all again in wrexham.

I've read the new South Wales team will have a 90% Welsh side, so presumably that would be where a lot of the kids from the Crusaders set up will end up.

In my opinion Rugby League has not and never will be a success down in South Wales. If the Crusaders move to Wrexham on a perminant basis I'm sure under the leadership of Brian Noble they will improve on the paddock and also next season there gates will increase by the sole factor more away fans will attend these fixtures rather than before when having to face that long trip down to Bridgend.
Good luck to all concerned with Rugby League in North Wales.
Are you serious? Any franchise that depends on away support is doomed to fail. What about when Salford, Catalans, Harlequins, Wakefield travel there. They will be lucky to reach a crowd of 1,000. There are young players emerging in South Wales who are on the fringe of the Crusaders squad. In terms of development I hope that the newly formed South Wales RLFC can provide a platform for young Welsh players to showcase their talents. Players with potential will then hopefully be recruited by super league clubs.
As for Crusaders now the money has run out, the RFL should have pulled the plug rather than let them die a slower death. The game has potential in South Wales but we need investors who are prepared to invest time and money. Unfortunately the game will struggle to attract the people with the financial backing who are prepared to bankroll a club for 5-10 years allowing the club to develop, such as Kennedy has done at Sale RUFC. The club at Bridgend was seen as a regional South Wales club. The club at Wrexham is now there to provide a struggling football club with an alternative use for a tidy stadium that is not getting the numbers through the turnstiles to watch a very poor team. They are just fortunate they happen to be in Wales otherwise they would have had no chance of securing the deal.
