Some of the negative posters here will just moan about anything in my opinion. But some people on here also lean too much towards the side of the club on certain issues, which probably annoys just as many people as the regular moaners do.
No real solution to it. If there are so many things that people see fit to moan about then it probably reflects the current direction that the club appear to be heading.

Good topic Iain.
Trouble with most of the defenders of the club on here is they must live in a big red Salford RLFC/John Wilkinson bubble It drives me insane when the past failings of the club are totally ignored by some.
I've been a supporter for 30+ years and have attended most events and constantly hear the same old crap year in year out. I'm sure Wilky has got his start/end of season speech on tape, you know the one we've all heard it, for those of you who have only recently being attending I can confirm it was the same in 1982 as it is now.
Dont reply to me with "well what else do you want him to say"? It's pathetic. Same crap with the ground as well, I have a letter from the council here dated 2002 with a planning application on it, its now nearly 2010 and not much has changed by the way of bricks and mortar. For those who say it will be built, you said that in 2002, you said it in 2003, 2004 etc. etc. In fact some of you have been that hoodwinked by the club over past promises and events I wouldn't be surprised if I found out they introduced you to Derren Brown way back when. I've been privvy to other information recently that adds yet more weight in favour that the ground will be built but until I see it going up I won't be writting stupid statements on here to the contrary. I am in favour of the new ground and wish the club all the success in obtaining it.
I want Salford to succeed just as much as anyone but I was born with a gift of common sense and I've learnt not to suffer fools gladly. I'm not stupid to think I know more than anyone else but those who do know me know I have a close relationship to the club, I get told things that maybe I shouldn't and I hear things that others would give their right arm for. To be told things by those 'allegedly in the know'? or those who say "what can I do better" on here the answer is unsurprisingly nothing. I don't have a say in the board room! But to be told I'm a whinger or some other derogatory word get a grip will you. The truth is better than the lies. Like KOTS said "maybe your in the wrong place".
Some of you get too swallowed up by the whole emotional rollercoaster ride of the club and maybe thats fairplay but I prefer to listen to sound reasoned debate than out and out blind loyalty.
this will not be the end, or even the beginning of the end.
It is merely the end of the beginning

I see your point, but I would take a slightly difference stance on it. The responsibility of a business is to its stakeholders, which includes the shareholders and customers (supporters, commercial sponsors et al). In theory they are mutually bound: it doesn't make sense for shareholders to alienate customers because they may stop coming, thus devaluing the shareholding.
So I kind of agree, but I think paying through the gate should entitle you a stake in the club of some variety.

Great debate & great post showing you will never please everyone, we all have different view, I have found myself reading through the posts actually agreeing with different views expressed.
My beef with the club is the lack of PR & marketing of the club, surely a club with the aspirations of Super league & a new stadium should be putting forward the positive work the club do, just look at our shop, which clearly show how the club is viewed compared to most other super league clubs, very poor & amerteurish.
Overall as a dedicated season ticket holder for more years than I care to remember I actually trust the club to deliver its promise & as long as I have this believe, I personally have a goal.
Finally we need to realise we are in the worst recession we have known. It will be the company's who protect there businesses during this difficult period, who will be in business long term, Salford are no different.
The primary responsibilty of the business is to its shareholders, so when people say "it's out club", that is simply not the case. If you want that to be the case then buy some shares!
It is simply unrealistic for people to want to know commercially sensitive information regarding things like contracts for the stadium and much of the criticism of the club has been about these issues. BUT I'm certainly not saying the club have been blameless, they could have issued a statement explaining what they were and were not allowed to say and that would have defused a lot of the anger and frustration.
A sporting club should never, ever, be about satisfying shareholders.
Mès que un club.

Probably the best topic for discussion there's been on here for a while.
I think the thread about the new away kits sums it up. Some of us think it's awful, we say so, and people come running to the club's defence, telling us that we're just whinging for the sake of it, the club can't do anything right in our eyes, blah blah. As long as people have a constructive, valid opinion, then surely they shouldn't be derided for that? Even if someone is coming on talking sh*t (the chairman doesn't spend enough money, it's the club's fault the stadium won't happen, they all lied to us, blah blah blah) then the best thing to do is to counter those posts with constructive arguments, rather than sarcastic, patronising posts. And, OK, I may have done one or two of those myself in the past, but just ignore that for now.
Having a negative opinion on something is not illegal. Nor does it mean you are not committed to the club. Nor does it mean that you think the club cannot do anything right at all. It just means you don't like something that has happened. I don't like the shirt. I don't like the brand of rugby we play. I don't like the fact that the draught beer at the Willows is shocking. I don't like the lack of variety in the stuff available in the club shop - especially for those of us who like our merchandise to be a bit more subtle. Does that mean I can't acknowledge the good things that happen at the club? The things they are doing right? The fact that, in a lot of cases, they are clearly trying to make things better? Of course not. It just means I don't like one or two things that go on.
Take, for instance, something that's happened to me this week. I emailed the club on Tuesday night, on the membership email address, asking a couple of questions about the ST/membership order before I finalised everything. I then received a phone call on the Wednesday from someone in the office who said "we notice you've not renewed your season ticket yet." Erm... I emailed the club last night with a couple of questions... He didn't know about that and could only really answer one question properly. I still haven't received a response to the email.
So - the fact that the club are chasing up non-renewals is good. The fact that they're not responding to emails and that there's no communication between departments is bad.
So, maybe the staunch club apologists need to think on slightly before launching an attack on those who 'whinge'.
