This is something I've complained about since the Devil was removed and it's been indicated in my Sig ever since. I think the difference with our nickname is the fact it was given to us (and by a different country) and not made up by the club itself.
As an aside, here are the other nicknames the club had (I'm not including the ones often shouted on the terraces!

1880's The Turkeys / Turkey Reds / Good Old Turkey - was a common reference due to the original Scarlet-red shade of the jersey worn.
1890's The Scarlet Runners / Red Jackets
1900's The Royalists / Royal Reds - became popular due to Salford's historical status of being a 'Royal and Ancient Borough' since the 14th century.
