Chico I firmly believe you can compare Super league to all of those sports in terms of entertainment value. Manchester United or wigan athletic or anyone else for that matter. If you are a RL fan who loves watching his/ her sport then you are getting far greater value for money than the football fan who loves watching their sport. You can go to 3 games of league for the same price as 1 football match.

My comparison with international RU was made with the 4 Nations final which was happening on the same weekend not an ordinary super league game!

King of Birchwood, if I am wrong on the price for a football game I stand corrected... however i would like to know who is cheaper than that and what is the price. I wager it's not less than £36 for a non season ticket holder which still makes it 3 games for 1 in favour of RL.

My point is that it's not bad for the greatest game in the World :D :!:

Bolton Wanderers cheapest season ticket for this season are £285 which equates to £15 per game for Premier League matches.

Appreciate you point but think you're figures are a way out?! Not all PL clubs are like ManU you know?!

man uniteds cheapest ticket is less than 40 quid, but still agree that rugby league is well worth its value for money, compared tp other sports.
i also understand that people are struggling for cash at the present time and struggle to pay for tickets but its only a extra pound every two weeks to come and watch salford compared to last year, and if u cant pay that then i give up, i just hope people will wind find that pound and turn up to the games, and help put some cash back into the club so we can sign myler back

And far to expensive at that price, I had the misfortune to go and watch them against Blackburn last sunday, their days as a premiership team are numbered after that gutless display in a local derby..

That's a good deal for Bolton but the original post was all about pay on the day prices not deals for season ticket holders.

Fair point. However, the cheapest tickets for PL matches at the Reebok are only £20. Additionally, you can buy a membership for £20 which then allows you a £5 discount on all match tickets, making the cheapest price just £15.

I think the real key to the difference between BWFC and SCR prices is that Bolton (like most PL clubs) now have a different price structure for different games. I can't believe RL clubs haven't followed suit TBH.

Think yourself lucky! You only had to endure one game (although that one was particularly bad) - I've been going through that once a fortnight for nigh on 20 years?!

Salford red all over wrote:" Megson's getting sacked in the morning "

We wish! Considering the grief McRea got last year I'd love to know how Salford fans would react to a coach who was as bad at Salford as Megson has been at Wanderes?!

Thankful, in my case, they do!

I hope they don't. That really used to p*ss me off going to United away games, being charged more by certain clubs just because the game was a bigger draw to their own fans than, say, Bolton. Just because United were loaded at the time didn't mean those of us trekking to watch them where.

If RL went down that route it really would be the start of alienation of the game's supporters.

Can understand that, and don't entirely disagree, but it seems equally unfair to expect (for example) Saints fans to pay the same amount to see a tense, high importance, close game against Leeds as they do to see a dull, one-sided affair against a team full of lower class players (like Salford?! )

In terms of entertainment value, you’re bang on. Or at least I think you are because we both love our rugby league; it’s a subjective argument.

The issue isn’t particularly RL fans who are peeved at the amount they have (and usually will pay) to watch their team, it’s more about attracting new or floating support; and this is where you can’t compare rugby league — or in this case Salford City Reds — with the likes of Manchester United, Wimbledon tennis etc. because RL, unlike the aforementioned ill-fitting suitors, isn’t in the public concious.

Rugby league’s promotion is almost exclusively down to the word-of-mouth from its evangelists and trying to persuade people to try something out at £18, £20, especially if the event is fairly uninspiring to begin with, is an increasingly tough sell.
