I didnt mean it in a good way, surely when RU (well super 14 anyway) is now in my eyes as watchable is many of the borefests you get in SL yawnion is'nt that accurate any longer.

Plus being from Welsh stock and haveing watched a few 6 nations and other games live the international RU game generates a passion that i've never really felt at an international RL game.

Gotta disagree here MR. Super 14 is by far the best product available in club RU and has improved immensely since its inception but as for being as watchable as borefests in SL, well, no. Super 14's best is about as tolerable as the very-very worst games in SL in terms of watchability. Until RU changes some of its rules, its best athletes will never produce top class entertainment.
(Potential rule changes: Get rid of 2 players, lineouts, rucking and mauling. Introduce a 10m rule and a 6 tackle rule.)

and what would you call this new improved version of Rugby Union?

I quite used to enjoy playing union at De La Salle (though I was never good enough to get into the school team and play seriously). I think that union rules used to be drawn up to favour players' enjoyment (there was a role for everyone, no matter what shape or how little talent) whereas league rules were designed to make the game more entertaining to the spectators. Now the top-level union has turned honestly professional there have been changes made in an attempt to make it more interesting to watch, but they are still 100 years behind league.

Well, as we were the 1st "union" and we are playing rugby... Hows about rugby union? Hmm, then again that sounds a little like rugby union so I'd settle for rugby.

I have played union and it is a lot better to play than watch, unless you are on the wing Still too much kicking, too many rules and stoppages and not enough trys. When any union team starts to pass the ball round then the commentators start creaming their pants.
Basically they are then playing league
