They might not have much say, as he's out of contract with Saints at the end of the season. I cant see him going back to saints, with eastmond being there, and the fact they have palmed him out on loan for the last 3 years. I'm sure he said in an interview he wanted to stay at Salford longer than the loan deal a couple of months back.

Worse in fact because we are looking at being relegated to ' the land that time forgot '

This is one we'd need to sort out now because can anyone see Holdsworth staying??, would love to be wrong but can only see him moving to one of the big 3 or 4 and then having Matty and Ratchford at the starting halves, not a bad starting combo if you ask me and potentially more creative than Ratchford and Myler threatened to be. Smith as a more all round game than Myler but will be the type of halve who doesnt get the headlines but can be the fulcrumb of the team.

I'm sure I read somewhere that we've offered Holdsworth an extension. Whether he accepts is another thing though. I'll have to try and find the article.

No doubt we have, personally I'd be looking at him to be the main player all the way to moving into the stadium and beyond as not only is he a good player but an incredibly media friendly type.

Get him on Rock Radio and XFM promoting the club and you'd get more bums on seats for me.

He's been on loan for two years. In 2007 he stood in for Longy and helped to get us to the Grand Final, only to be replaced by Longy for the Grand Final itself (which annoyed a few of us given that it was Longy's first match back from a long time off with injury and we lost anyway!). Smith was originally sent to the Crusaders because he was considered too good for the reserves (as it was at the time) but with Longy still very much on contract, there wasn't a fulltime spot for him here. In the meantime, though, Eastmond has taken off, which means Matty is unlikely to have his contract renewed at Saints. I think he realises this and is somewhat anxious to impress McRae. He needs to put in more than one good performance every blue moon, though, to impress him sufficiently for a contract offer. You have a couple of good halfbacks already.

I feel sorry for Matty as he never hid the fact that he very much wanted to play for his home town club. Still, if he manages to put in performances as good as or better than the one on Saturday night, he should have little problem in securing a position somewhere.

Success is not final; failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts. (Winston Churchill)

I thought him and Tyrer, were on loan at Widnes 2008, albeit not the whole season, Celtic 2009, and now us 2010, think im correct in saying that, thats what i meant when i said three years, including this season.
