I think as a non forever red, after reading all this talk online and listening to family members who are members, who have mentioned the paying of a tax bill a couple of seasons ago, paying for the young players to stay in wales, paying for kit and this raising money for a defibrillator etc, and with BBs mum comment about people putting a £100 in you at least should have a seat on the board. (and that is not a smart comment, as to me it seems the club goes to forever reds begging for money, when directors are selling the ground to pay themselves back loans
Infact i made the suggestion last season that the club could raise money by issuing shares for fans to buy, and a few weeks later what did wakefield do?

Gruffy I don't think Wakefield copied your idea, it take time to sort out a shares issue before you co public, United did it in 1991 following on from Tottenham's issue in 19990. but look whats happened to United now. Also another director bought the ground, and don't you think John and Howard deserve some moeny back, they lost about £5m between them with the collapse of Red City Developments, Forever Reds is there to help the club because we don't get enough fans in for a number of reasons the more fans in it the more we can do to help the club, its just a pity we only have a handful of rich people who are interested in Salford and putting money in if only the local lads who have made millions out of our fellow Salfordians don't feel they can get involved such as Fred Done, the Demmeys and other bookmakers. I know a couple of years ago the bookies in langworthy were turning over a million pounds a year between them and thats from the 88th most deprived ward in the country at the time.

In reply to big Pev, no I relaise I that Wakefield didnt read my post and say "that is a good idea so lets issue shares."
What Irks me is that you mention "John and Howard" having a right to take there money out of the club, they do, as I have a right to not attended matches, which it would seem a lot of people in Salford chose to do last night.
May I ask if "John and Howard" are prepared to sell the Willows to get some of their losses back what does that say to the "not proper fans" such as I who criticise the club, the people who dont go or any potential investors, when the directors are leaving the sinking ship.
What kind of investment is that when the owners are taking their money out. I agree it is much more complicated, but I am not in the loop of privileged people who receive private information from the club as some posters appear to be.
As to the forever reds, i think to raise money for the club is a good deed, but I am not a member as looking from the outside, reading the posts and listening to my family who attend meetings, I think a supporters organisation should be independent from the club and that is not the impression I get.

Gruffy - John Wilkinson was quoted a couple of years back saying he would be willing to sell his shares if a purchaser came along - but the fact he hasn't rather hints that either no purchaser came, or if one did then they couldn't agree a price. Your comment about "the sinking ship" is unfair - everything is for sale if the price is right (Liverpool, United, Chelsea......)
On your next question - how do you know the "owners are taking their money out" - from the last set of published accounts that certainly did not seem to be the case. You yourself use the word "investment" - the purpose of an investment is to get a return on it! But pretty unlikely anywhere in Rugby league.
It might be interesting to see whether Forever Reds could do a Barcelona and raise enough to buy out the current owners, put in adequate working capital and actually do a good job?
There were just over 3,000 there last night, let's say half were children (or otherwise unwilling to contribute), then for the remaining 1,500 I'd say you'd need to get each to pledge around £2,000 which would raise £3 million - Would JW & the other directors take £1m in cash, leaving £2m to run the club on - there you go - simple!!

Forever Reds is an independent supporters trust — a legal entity with its own board. It donates money to areas of the club which otherwise wouldn't have got it. It doesn't really exist to be critical.
Salford fans had the chance to embrace an independent supporters association with balls when SRISA was formed in the early 2000s. It was poorly supported, as is Forever Reds to be honest. There is little call for fans putting their voices on here and on the terraces into action, sadly.
"what about the money they get from super league wheres that gone"
On players' wages ... and we are not even great payers.
As one who remembers the pre-Snape days, we are blessed that a very few people will invest a huge chunk of their capital on Salford. They've even stayed loyal when times were (are) bad. Compare to the two different Quinns in Oldham, the problems at Hornets, and Whelan's actions at Wigan. Examine the team that beat us last night: the behaviour of Leighton Samuel and then this:
To put it bluntly, it's not your money. Remortgage your home to invest in Salford, set up a direct debit that one-third of your earnings go to the club, and then criticise: if you get it wrong - no house, bankruptcy, etc.

Love him or hate him, 163 consecutive appearances should make Stuart Littler a Salford legend in anyone's book
