I've been asked by Jo's family to post this onto here.
All Jo's family have been Salford fans for years. You could say its a family tradition ( being proud salfordians). Unfortunately Jo's Grandad - Wilf Greenhalgh died 2 weeks ago. Wilf had supported Salford for 80 years and up until the season before last could still be seen in the main stand sat in his chair shouting on his beloved Reds.
This was mentioned to the club who to their credit not only sent a beautiful red and white floral tribute, but also sent Andrew Bentham as a club representative to the funeral. Andrew was a true credit to the club speaking to many members of the family ( about Salford of course).
As well as sending a letter of thanks to the club and mentioning them in the acknowledments printed in the Advertiser Wilf's family have asked me to place this post on here.
The club we all love has been on the receiving end of a lot criticism this past season over how it has treated it's supporters. However this goes to show that our club still knows how to treat it's fans properly. For once the club deserves a great deal of credit and recognition for it's actions.
All of Wilf's family can't express their thanks enough to Sir John and the rest of Salford City Reds RLFC for the compassion they have shown during this sad time.
On behalf of the whole family
THANK YOU
And to put it in Wilf's own words
COME ON SALFORD !
