Sadly had to announce his retirement after following advice from doctors.

A great servant to the game and super league he's been outstanding for every team he's played in. I was really pleased I got to see him turn out in my team's colours.

Most naturally gifted HB that SL has produced in 25 years. Yes, Rob Burrows and a few others were better all-around pro's and certainly more level headed individuals but I'm not sure any were quite as skilful as Brough, maybe Shaun Long comes close but whether he'd have done so well in lesser teams who knows.

Brough biggest weakness, many, he was a law unto himself.

From what ive heard, it was his professionalism that stopped him getting a contract at a big club. This is a shame because at a big club, with great players he could quite possibly have gone down as an all time great as he certainly had the skill set

Lee Briers was the most gifted HB that SL has produced,..........by a long way!

So your independent assessment as a Warrington Fan, is that the Warrington half back Lee Briers was the best ever SL half-back "by a long way"? I imagine you used quite rigorous criteria such as the number of games played at Wilderspool, volume of games played for ANY team that rhymes with Borrington etc?

I agree that Sean Long, Rob Burrow, Brough etc score particularly badly.

I know it's laughable. Everyone knows its Paul Deacon anyway.

Where did he say "Best ever SL Half back"?

Brough and Briers are both very talented players. But neither had all the requirements to get a move to a big club or win titles.

Brough won two Albert Goldthorpe medals and a man of steel. You’re entitled to your opinion but the fact is he was a class act and at points the best in the league.
