In a soon to be released press statement, Self Publicist Supreme Eric Perez says
Quote:"Flying from Leeds Bradford, where the trillions of Rugby League fans reside, directly to Newquay, which I've just found out is 90 minutes away from our latest home ground, will fit perfectly in with our new 3 pillars of commercial, grassroots and the community, which in hindsight, is only 2, because grassroots is the community without the commercial".
When asked about the selection of Penryn as the base for the club, Perez cited the multitude of bar jobs with live in status available during the summer season which would surely entice NSW/QLND cup players to the region. When pressed on his claims to field a predominantly Cornish side, Perez remarked that he's only been in Cornwall for a week and he already felt like a local and he was sure it would be the same for the influx of ANZAC bar staff expected to arrive soon.
When asked about the financials of the sponsorship deal with another airline, he was quick to point out that fans could fly to Newquay, hit the waves, jump on a bus, catch some 3rd tier RL before spending another 90 minutes bus ride and a flight back to Leeds Bradford all for the cost of a fortnight in Tenerife. A bargain!
In terms of coaching, Paul Rowley Brian Noble have been named as Joint Head Coaches after not being able to secure decent jobs since last being associated with Perez, but it has been noted that the new Cornish side are keeping a close eye on the availability of Brian McDermott at Featherstone by Easter.
In closing, Perez was asked why the club hadn't considered returning to Hemel, where there are still youth and amateur sides playing. He said "it was a commercial decision based on nobody ever doing business with him twice."

Stay clear of the BBC story then.....it read like RL is gonna explode once the good folk from the south west watch one game ....101 RL marketing....people will get hooked if we can get them to watch one game BBC article 2021
Quote: "once you can handle an oval ball, you're pretty much there," is Perez's take on the possibility of code-switchers adapting to the sport.
Ottawa sun 2020
Quote:“It would be great to have some Canadians involved. I was at Carleton the other day and some football players walked by — those guys were towers. They’re used to carrying the ball and getting tackled. Some Rugby League players have watched the NFL on television and made NFL rosters after never playing football. So why can’t we have Canadian football players playing Rugby League?”

Didn't you see Perez introducing Toronto Wolfpack in his interview with Dave Woods? Grid iron players converting to RL in droves, Massive TV deals, Transatlantic league etc?Anyway a precis of his direct comments for Cornwall is here:-
Perez said: "Moving to Cornwall makes it a truly national sport. Cornwall and the north of England are extremely similar places, with its culture and industrial history. The class system is not there. It’s a rugby league place waiting to happen. There’s a massive untapped talent resource there because everybody in Cornwall picks up an oval ball. I have three goals. Old Trafford, build up RL across Cornwall and have Cornish players playing for England. There are no professional summer sports in Cornwall. That makes us a tourist attraction. In Cornwall we can actually make an impact. The project is fully financed, with the money that was going into Ottawa having been diverted to Cornwall. The squad will initially be part-time". Perez is confident he can win over the doubters when he presents his plan to a meeting of Championship and League 1 clubs on Wednesday. "We’re going to build this sustainably over time. I personally would like to be in Super League within seven to 10 years. There is already a lot of grassroots activity which we will be supporting and the Cornish Rebels are going to be a feeder club".
The fact is that the Cornish Pirates Rugby Union Football club are already there and they play professionally in the Rugby Union Championship. They are the top club of any code for attracting the fans in Cornwall, so the presence of a successful club like that who give Rugby fans in Cornwall [b]professional Rugby and who have a good chance of getting into the premiership in the near future really does leave Perez with a massive problem.
And this is opening an RL club in a strong RU area, which is probably [b]the equivalent of opening up West Wales RLFC in the south of Wales. The only redeeming factor here may be the investment offered ("the money that was going to ottawa") however that will run out unless Cornwall RLFC can turn a profit or find a multi-millionaire

Triggered, will be fans travelling 7 hours in each direction to watch a 3rd tier game of RL. Add in some holiday traffic for unfettered joy.
Considering that Ottawa and subsequently the Cornish Pirates are riding on the back of Hemel Stags place in the comp, is any of this actually progress ? Also, would it be right to assume that, as soon as covid etc allows, The Cornish Pirates will return to being Ottawa Aces.

I just watched that again....they were quite funny back in the day and that sketch was a beauty.
More words from Perez that on inspection mean nothing other than if I'm right I'm the games saviour......but you've got to give me 10 years this time, because last time I was found out to be wrong inside 10 months in regards to converting players from a similar sport to Rugby League
Quote:This is a long-term project, so how people feel about it on day one is of little consequence," Perez told BBC Sport.
"It's how they feel about it in 10 years that will tell the story. In 10 years if they say this Cornwall thing is great, we've done the job
If he's still in Cornwall in 10 years it'll be because he's in prison for embezzlement or some other snake oil salesman activity......he's like an enthusiastic salesman who believes Sony walkmans are the future unaware that music streaming now exists....passionate but naive.
