| the old buffoon is clueless. Cairns doesn't have the population, business, stadium and already has a NRL team representing it!
A 2nd Brisbane team is needed in the future but CC and Perth will be next two in 2013 with a 2nd Brisbane and Wellington in 2018 imo.

| I would like to see a perth team, it would deffinately start to justify the National part of the NRL, i just doubt the NRL would have the balls to do such a thing. I think they will try and play it more safe with a CC team and another queensland team before they go to Perth.
Also wouldnt mind having an excuse to go to WA

Good question, who knows!
Our bid is building nicely, we have the stadium, we are the strongest RL city outside NSW and Q'land, we have the team, logo, etc already running around in the Bundy cup, we have the biggest population of any non RL city in Australia, we have a strong corporate base and we can draw 12-15,000 fans no problem.
If we have the financial backing and if the NRL has any vision for expanding the game are the big question marks.
On a minor plus side Perth is a heck of alot cheaper to get to and from now and the fans and players would enjoy a weekend in our great city.
Personally I hope they do what the RFL have done with one expansion and one heartland team in each expansion period. After 100 yeasr to only actually have one "expansion" team is afarce for a game with the potential of RL. I'd like to see us taking the fight to the AFL rather than constantly be on the back foot.

| Honestly would like the a Perth team, and if the backing is a s strong as you state then their shouldnt be reason not to go ahead with them. I just aint that confident that the NRL will take the chance. As for the fan side of things, it would be an awesome weekend away.

| What we really need is the NRL to come out now and annouce that there will def be expansion and give us at least 3 years knowing we will be in come 2013. This would allow us to definately plan for our launch, get sponsors and players signed up and create a real buzz in the city. If they leave it till 2012 to decide then it will be a lot harder and not as well planned out.
We have a bid committee now formed and I can see us really ramping up our credentials over the next 18 months. We know we face a massive up hill battle due to Gallop and the NRL's lack of vision for the sport but we won't go down without a fight!
The first steps were taken with the launch of the Reds last year, we have a game in a couple of weeks to make some noise at and then its onwards and upwards!

| to maximise TV revenues we need at least one more queensland team
perth will add basically nothing now to TV rights.
so next time id be picking central coast and brisbane as the new teams
and hopefully the sharks move to rockhampton to make it 5 queensland teams.
the storm have been around for 10 years and add nothing to our TV rights, perth will be the same
later when weve maximised TV ratings in queensland and nsw, then we can go for more marginal markets

i think theyll have a clearer picture of expansion when the independant report is published on Tv deal. i thinks its published next year??
How many are they expecting for bunnies game and how are ticket sales? i would like to think they can get 15000 for a reg season game considering they got 10000 for a pre-season game. A strong showing would give the NRL no choice but to at least consider the Reds.

| If weather is good then yeh around 15,000 would be a great crowd.
re Tv value, it is only of no value due to Ch9's hostility to helping grow our game. Remember when 9 reckoned nobody wanted to watch Rl in melbourne, they finally showed a GF live and over 400,000 tuned in! NRL on a Sunday rated higher in perth than what they pulled it for, why did they pull it when it was rating higher?
The AFL built their TV deal on having a presence in Q'land and NSW providing additional potential viewers even though nobody watches the game there. the NRL will NEVER get a TV deal close to the AFL's until it has a national game. Gallop has admitted as much. Maybe hard for you to believe but NSW and Q'land only make up 50% of the Australian population! People in Brisbane and CC are already watching RL, Perth offers NEW viewers.
