Finally, a good news story about the NRL. It seems crowds so far this season are better than any other year since the NRL's creation, even beating 2005 the record-year.

12 of the 16 clubs have a positive increase of last year with an overall increase in average crowds of 11%. The only let down are the Sharks who are down 25%, titans down 14%, raiders down 7% and the knights down 22% (knights stadium under construction so this can be excused)

Overall, the comp looks healthy despite the media driven scandals and shows people will watch a quality product no matter what goes on off the field. I think a realistic aim for the NRL should be to push for an average of 20,000 in the next few years, and by assisting struggling clubs like cronulla and the raiders this is very acheivable.

Just hope those clubs in financial difficulties can get out of it.

crowds are always good pre origin but sink during origin as people focus on that.

the 2005 year set records as we got good crowds after origin whereas the past couple of years we start out strong then fade

broncos have played a lot of their big games already to boost the average.

the dogs will add around 5000 to last years average, penrith will be up a lot too but knights and cronulla will be down a lot

I wonder if this a result of the improved style of rugby on offer - the two refs have certainly improved the fluidity of the games I have seen on Setanta.

Is there are reason for the fall at the Titans?

Your job is to say to yourself on a job interview does the hiring manager likes me or not. If you aren't a particular manager's cup of tea, you haven't failed -- you've dodged a bullet.

preferably perth or queensland.

the Bears are working on getting back in the central coast and playing 10 games a year there and 2 at their old home at north sydney

the game of RL lost a large part of sydney to AFL and union with the loss of that club

getting them back in will help RL in sydney and the central coast as well.

no brainer, and will be the next team in the nrl

the other will either be perth or another queensland club

id go with another queensland club for now, especially if its near brisbane

the titans haven fallen that much.

its a close competition, they had bailey out for some games i think. they re certainly in the mix.

it will be interesting to see how the broncos handle the origin period because normally they slump this time of year and with the new coach in there, he might not be able to handle it

14% seems a substantial fall in attendances - is that just a settling down after the initial euphoria of a new side

In the past the Broncos have provided a big quamtity of players for Qld not sure this season it will be as many especially if Wallace doesn't get selected for NSW

thought you meant the titans on field performances, not crowds.

those comparisons dont do like for like. theyve had some poorer teams as home games, when they get the broncos or other popular clubs it will rise again.

wallace will be the nsw 7.

the broncos have been showing signs of poor form in recent weeks, esepcially losing to manly at home. origin will decimate them and with an unproven coach it wouldnt surprise me to see them drop from top 4 to fringe of the top 8

in past year the broncos have always struggled around origin.

for 3 or 4 years straight they would be a top team leading into origin then sink during and after.

the storm and dragons are other clubs who will feel an impact on origin, though dragons less than storm or broncos
