Quote:"In Wales, there were so few locals there - it was just the usual fans from the north of England. The time and money spent on the Magic Weekend should be spent on an area like Cumbria ... expecting so many people to travel such a long way for just another league game, which is televised anyway, isn't realistic. A lot of players aren't too fussed with it."

Hard not to agree with that tbh

I disagree. I can't wait to go up there.

Graham comparing the local turnout in Cardiff is a little disingenuous when you consider that's why the RFL moved it and if reports are to be believed, the SRU have done a lot better in sales to the Scottish.

Another point is that a large group of us are travelling up, many of whom have never watched RL before - I'm sure they'll enjoy it and may come back for more. These weekends offer a tremendous opportunity to get new fans involved in the game and if the nay-saying northerners stay away on principle then great - the new fans will enjoy the weekend all the more for not having someone slating it next to them.

Oh and if Graham wants (at least) 2 fixtures dropping I'm sure him and his mates wouldn't mind taking a pay cut. . . . .

"James Graham on a bit of a downer, after losing a game they should never have" shock.

I'm sure his club, fans and team mates will be delighted with him, knowing he can't be arsed against Wigan this weekend.

Probably doesn't fancy being mistaken for one of the many who'll be walking round with the Jock Ginger Wigs on?

This world was never meant for one as beautiful as me.

I enjoy the concept of the weekend but I think it would be far better to have it on the first weekend, start the season with a bang. There has been no real fanfare to mark the start of the season in the last few years, in fact it's been terrible with round 4 games before round one games, nonsense. I'm not sure what the ticket sales are for the weekend this year but more fans would be willing to make the trip after being starved of rugby for a few months IMO.
