To give some Good news on French rugby league , the catalans have announced that they now have 5000 paying memebers. An increase of 300 % in 4 years.

Stiill some way to go before the catch USAP the union team sharing the same town with 10,000 members. The catalans love a winner so success on the field is paramount to the ongoing interest and success of the dragons.

The new member is a young lad from the area who had the chance to carry the game ball out for the kick off and recieved a jersey.

They are working on the stadium to increase seating capacity and comfort to members so this figure could increase when these works are completed.

If Bernard Guasch is clever, and decides to dump Kevin Walters mid-season, then he will be well advised to release Shane Perry at the same time, grab Graham Murray as Walters replacement, and at the same time invite Todd Carney --- now with the Atherton Roosters amateur club --- over to Perpignan to play in the halves for the remainder of the year.

The number of massive victories that Murray and Carney could construct together will increase the club's membership by another 2,000 at least.

I don`t think walters will be given the boot during his first year, he has signed for two with his assistant Dean Pay . What i see happening is they`ll put up with what theve`ve got and search high and low for a talented halfback for next year.

Carney has been linked to the roosters for next season , he is loose and plays up wherever he goes, he would play up in France and the catalans don`t need a young gifted troublemaker but a more mature level headed and experienced halfback.

Brett kimmorly would be an obvious choice. He will be looking for an overseas adventure soon, his nrl days will soon be over.

Good on the Dragons hope they get some much needed wins, maybe a good run in the Challenge cup will help their cause.

Carney only plays up in Australian communities, where he sort of knows the language. Bring him to France, where he cannot speak the local language, and tell him that the French police beat you to a pulp if they catch you drunk, then I am sure he will behave.

Kimmorley still has another year at the Bulldogs, where he is playing well. His NRL career is far from over.
