SOMEBODY SAID that it couldn’t be done But he with a chuckle replied That “maybe it couldn’t,” but he would be one Who wouldn’t say so till he’d tried. So he buckled right in with the trace of a grin On his face. If he worried he hid it. He started to sing as he tackled the thing That couldn’t be done, and he did it!

It was too good an opportunity

Cheapest range of hotels in France is Formule1 - like travelodge, but even more basic - 30odd euros a night per room (each room can take 3 people max).
is a bunch of motels ranging from dirt cheap to expensive.
There are *thousands* of campsites in the area, provided you're not going in August you can almost certainly turn up without having booked ahead - that's what we've done previously. But almost everywhere has a website telling you about facilities and price etc. 15-20 euros per night would get you a campsite with swimming pool, bars, shops etc. Less for one with fewer facilities.

You had better look around mate because I have just been to toulouse for a few days, and it is the most expensive place I have ever been !!!
including 3* hotel for 3 nights, eating out 3 nights, and a few beers, a train trip to perpignan, and taxis did not get much change from a grand !!
Taxis start the meter at 7 Euros before you move an inch. Airport to centre is ten to fifteen minute drive and 30 Euros !! Bottle of water 4.50 euros. Had a large beer in a pizza restaurant 8.95 euros !!
