Dreadful decision from a poor referee. Smith seems to specialise in poor decisions, whilst Thaler seems to specialise in wanting to be controversial.

Downward pressure? he didn't even touch the ball until it hit the ground ergo knock on, learn the rules.

As you say, don't let facts spoil your rant

So it hit the ground before he touched it did it?

Errrr no it didn't

Yes it did, the ball hit the ground and a split second later Watts gets a finger nail on the ball, it's a knock on you're just the single most biassed idiot there is, if it isn't telling fans not to bother going to your dump if they want to stand up it's thinking a clear knock on by one of your players is a try. It really is pointless even trying to use logic with you because you don't have the mental capacity (or just plain refuse to want to believe) facts.

You are wrong, he got his hand to it before it hit the floor which is why it wasn't a knock on. Go and watch it again

I just did, the ball bounced as his hand touched the ball, so a knock on.

blind as well as stupid

Watch it, his hand is clearly on the ball before it's anywhere near the ground. The video referee gave the right decision and luckily it's going to be the decision that costs you a play off place

Bill Harragan got stood down for his video howler in the St G vs Manly game last week, but I doubt we'd ever see that happen in the UK. I remember when Cummins used to do a column in which he'd argue black was white in the defence of referee mistakes, can't say it inspires confidence.

I am happy admitting it wasn't a try if Ian Smith gets dropped.

As someone mentioned earlier in the thread, perhaps Smith is mindful of what happened to him last time he upset Saints with a refereeing performance?

It's the only possible explanation for not realising that a) Roby initially grounded the ball short and b) the tackle was therefore completed at that point and any subsequent loss of control is a knock-on, scrum to Crusaders.

I'm not prepared to concede that he simply doesn't understand the laws of the game or that he saw a completely different replay to anyone else, so it has to be a concious decision to find a reason to award the try.

I know I only managed to upset one simple pie-eater. I will have to work on it.

I know the rules mate. It works like this...

The video ref pressed the green button so therefore its a try. :D

See that wasn't too hard.
