Sadly Briscoe is not international class. Wello isnt upto it these days at international level, however he is still light years ahead of Briscoe, who is a brave player but lacking in anything else.
Which explains why the England coach has not included him in the squad then

Unfortunately, we don't have an international class fullback in this country, and I can't remember that last time we did. All the best in SL are antipodean and that doesn't look like changing in the near future. Until the general attitude to how a fullback should play changes throughout the game here, we're going to be a long way behind in this position.

Agreed! Wellens is the best British FB in SL by some distance and that sadly says it all about our current situation.
Not International class imo
On a side note i like Briscoe his a tryer but he was awfull tonight. Wellens doesent make that many mistakes in a aseason. Let alone one game.

Nope. Prescott, possibly, but certainly not Briscoe. Prescott's last season was 2003, so I'd say 6 years minimum that we've been without an international class fullback in the country and, even then, he didn't get a chance on the big stage.

I would say radlinski steadman and hampson have been the only decent ones in recent history. This has always been our weakest position in terms of depth and quality in britain
