As skillful as Saints are they 'have their day' more often then not thanks to their commitment and workrate. On paper our squad is pretty strong, on the pitch they let themselves down badly.

(I assume) Hull have offered him significantly more money than Saints did. In RL the practice of signing big name vets. Is indicative of a 2nd tied team that needs either the gate money (un-likely) or wants to take the short-term lift over long-term planning (most probably).

Think Robbie Paul - Bradford to Hudds then Salford.
Think Paul Newlove - Saints to Castleford
Think Mick Cassidy - Wigan to Widnes
and....
Thing Sean Long - Saints to Hull

David Furner? Paul Anderson? Shane Millard? Chris McKenna?

All moved from one big club to another when over 30

Oh, and Long turned down a big offer from Wigan to sign for us too

"Richard Agar, get out of my club!!!"

If only Barbara Windsor was our chairperson...

Alfie Langer played SOO at 36, and won the game for the Maroons

Probably the best performance I've ever seen from a scrum half, too.

Newlove was Fev' through and through. Helping Castleford getting relegated was probably a perfect end to his career in his eyes.

Long has been a great player for Saints and should provide the direction that Hull FC need. Anyone that says Sean Long has not turned up in the big games obviously supports a team that does not play in many of them.

A good signing for Hull FC. HKR are proof that you can turn round round things in a short space of time. I am sure Hull will be a better team at the end of his 2 years.

He did mention in an interview something about coaching too to maybe we have offered him the possibilty of a coaching role when he is through?
