SOMEBODY SAID that it couldn’t be done
But he with a chuckle replied
That “maybe it couldn’t,” but he would be one
Who wouldn’t say so till he’d tried.
So he buckled right in with the trace of a grin
On his face. If he worried he hid it.
He started to sing as he tackled the thing
That couldn’t be done, and he did it!

True. Smokey bores the arse off everyone. I'd rather read 100 volumes of Hansard than an hours worth of his drivel. At least Albert's bullshit is entertaining. Hooray for Albert.

Manchester United RL = Salford + Swinton + Oldham + ....

That is almost a rugby league heartland, not quite because of the decrepit stadium called the Willows, and the lack of dynamic clubs in neighbouring towns and suburbs. But with the new stadium at Barton it could become a heartland -- one that would possibly rival Perpignan in terms of fan attendance in 2015 (15,000 +).

A good modern stadium, with good views of the playing field from every vantage (like KC), good toilets, and good food, can do wonders for a club.

Once you have a good stadium, all you need is a good front office, esp. the marketing manager, and a capable team of youth development officers.

.........of course the big club wouldn't allow that name to be used. Try Manchester Reds or Barton Barnacles.

but not Barton Bluesox. :D

How could Manchester United FC stop us from using the name Manchester United Rugby League when we have Rugby League in the name? Do you know enough about copyright law to be sure of their veto power? I don't.

So how would nicking their name help a RL club ?

I don't to be honest but i can't imagine a global club like MUFC wouldn't have closed that loophole by now. Even your fanciful little Jackanory's couldn't hope for an MURL to be allowed.

The city of Manchester is known and respected all over the world. Salford isn't. Salford is hardly known in most of Britain, let alone the world.

Incidentally, from personal experience of trying to find it by car for the first time, Featherstone is rarely heard of and its location is almost unknown, among the pedestrian residents of west Yorkshire!

I'm surprised you even stooped so low to talk to them given that you write about them like they're shit on your shoe.
