Saddened! wrote:That's the Sky TV influence. They hype a player up (Usually because Phil Clarke's brother is their agent) and everyone suddenly regards them as a superstar. Toby King is one that springs to mind. Had a few good games, got built up as the reincarnation of Paul Newlove by Sky, got his new contract and went back to being Mr Average.
Tomkins also had a decent two or three games last year and got hyped up to the nines. He had no impact in multiple games and still got 3 MOS points because the games weren't televised. Lachlan Coote is a better player than Sam Tomkins and unquestionably the best back in Super League (Apart from Jack Welsby). He could win MOS next year at Hull KR as there won't be as much competition for points from his own team.
I think the bookies have it right having Tomkins outside the top 15 for MOS betting for next year.
It has nothing to do with Sky, it is my opinion, as clearly stated. Often, people can watch a sport and enjoy someone’s performance who doesn’t play for their team and award credit where it’s due. It doesn’t happen often, although this is a direct example. I have no prejudice or agenda, I just think that he is the best player in the competition. Coote is a decent player, but is not the best back. Neither is Welsby, or he would have played more. Not to say Welsby might not become the best, but last year, in my opinion, Tomkins was significantly better than both.
Now… Just because I don’t agree with you doesn’t mean that I’m wrong. Pull your head out of your backside and stop acting like a child.
