You have to take in to account the negative comments about Dobson invariably come from Hull fans
Apart from the fact they failed to sign him and hailed Thorman as a better deal puts their comments into perspective

Personally I thought that Dobson and Cooke were the better halfback pairing by some distance yesterday. Wire dominated in the forwards but Rovers were generally superior in the backs.
Hold on to me baby, his bony hands will do you no harm It said in the cards, we lost our souls to the Nameless One

As a pairing I would agree, but that's mainly because I think that Monas is poor and was poor again yesterday.
I thought Briers did a lot of little things right.
Much of his kicking was very good. He had hands in the second half tries. His quick catch and pass for Bridge's try was excellent. He also made the break in the first set of Extra Time. This put us in range of a drop goal (which he missed), and it pretty much gave us field position for the rest of that period.

Im biased but imho Briers in his day was and in some respects still is a better player than Dobson is now. Dobson in 3 or 4 years however..

Don't buy that tbh. I think Monaghans been steadily better for 7 or 8 weeks now
Lastly can Paul Cooke pass a ball backwards? I've said it since his Hull days and the amount of times I shouted forward today then realised 'oh its paul cooke, never mind'

Briers has no way been as consistent as Dobson this year.
Yesterday, Briers kicking game was excellent.
Dobson also had a good kicking game, and made some great breaks aswell as setting up that magnificent try to make it 22-12.

A few years ago briers was a much better player than he is know and may then have been on a par with dobson, for me now theres no contest, about equal on kicking game but dobson is a far better all round rl player.

We'll have to agree to disagree pyeman. A few years ago Briers was a very good player in a bad team and imo a better 6/7 than Dobson today
You're right about Dobson looking a complete player, i'm just not sure he's there yet.
For mine his decision making isnt the best and he doesnt offer much deception when he takes the line on.

Fair enough, everyone entitled to there opinion, i would agree with you that dobson has definatley got some improving to do but he has age on his side and i can see him going on to be the best 7 in the league.
