How wrong could you be.

Damo-Leeds wrote:Yes I agree on the field you have been the best team in the super league era because of solid hard work. However you have breached minor salary cap restrictions in order to do this. But to say that the Salary cap is the only reason why St Helens are good would be silly.

I’m just saying that you have cheated off field in order to gain success on field however big or minor that breach was you breached it. Still there’s no taking away that you have been the most successful side in the SL era due to the amount of cups you have won.

Quote:Man of steel= scully(twice), Lyon, wellens, roby, graham. Did they all cheat?

Can’t say much for Scully, Lyon and Wellens & Graham. Trent Barrett we all agree was the better player than James Roby that year. Most people will even go as far as saints players get MOS these days before the season has even started. But I just think the roby one was the dodgy one.

Quote:BBC team of the year was saints even before the Ryder cup team.

I don’t know what the competition was for excellent teams that year sport wise but it was a wonderful result for rugby league no doubt.

Quote:BBC coach of the year was Anderson that was before any other coach in any sport that year. Did he cheat?

The most over rated coach after Wayne Bennett. Wally Lewis could of coached that saints team to the same highs that season!

Quote:Look damo, saints are steeped in super league history. You can't deny it!!!

Yes you are. But Leeds still have a better history overall. Rugby League did not start in 1997.

I've checked out your link to Leeds history.

Now you look at ours.

That debate is over. Saints win.

You are the 2nd best team in Yorkshire if you wanna look at super league history.

It seems for all our awards you have sumat to say against.

For the record I do like Leeds. They are good club, good rugby ground, good fans but no history.

I also respect Leeds for the youth policy and I've liked your last 2 coaches but smith is by far better than mini me.

I think if Leeds keep up with the youth system they will have a good history in bout 10 years.

And I like St Helens. I’ve checked the history* of the town but not the club. We all have our own opinions. Great debate that has taken up a chunk of the evening.

Cheers and good luck for the rest of the season. :D

Just to put you in your place.

I've seen Wigan win more in my lifetime than Saints or Leeds have won in their entire history.

SAINTS THE ORIGINAL AND PERENNIAL CHEATS

For sale full Saints kit (circa 1989). Shirts in pristine condition, but shorts badly soiled.

For 27 - 0 you get a trophy
For 75 - 0 you get sod all.

Wigan had eight in a row
Saints have five in a row

Another St. Helens urban myth.

How many did Wigan win before they went full time pro?
