I'll make a suggestion that if both Wakey and Cas don't share and if Salford don't get cracking then there at least 4 clubs with better gounds and reasons to get into in sooperdooper league.

The clock is ticking and if what I read is correct ( it's from the RFL so may be open to change    ) promises mean sweet FA when the franchises come round again in March 2011

If however Wakey/Cas can get the cash AND the planning permision without the aid of the council then fine, however being realistic, honest and applying common sense is it gonna happen?

The Bull sports village ( pipedream plus for people of Keighley to fund) has more chance and they are struggling even after the council basically gave them Odsal!

Salford may just get in in time but......................

Crusaders as well.

And as for the mighty Cougars, the chances of a decent SL ground and application are a long way away but you never know, it could end up with the Bulls down at our gaff if they go down the pan (unlikely but you never know)

It's about as logical as believing you can build a stadium on green belt land with no plans, no permission and no money. Oh, hang on...

Joint ground..15/16k capacity..two stands apiece named after each club ...two stands amber and black on the castleford side of the ground...two stands red and blue on the side of the ground facing wakefield.....would really make the griund unique IMO!!!

In affect you could have a castleford side and a wakey side to build up the intensity of the derby games, and for home games for each team...open 'their' respective 2 home stands, with the other teams stand housing away fans, and one stand closed. would work perfectly for both teams IMO, with the capacity of the ground being approximately 11/12k for normal home games with one end shut...and 15/16k for the derbys.

Both clubs have an end terrace, keep with history 'The Belle View Terrace' and the 'Wheldon End' etc and one after a notable player....ie. The John Joyner Stand facing the Don Fox Stand etc.

This could also promote extra interest in both clubs IMO and would be a new ground, but a new ground with real character and history almost given to it overnight....something the modern grounds lack completely IMO.

Realistically, I think this is the only way either will get a ground and makes sence on so many levels. I also honestly think this is the only way both clubs can possibly remain in superleague. Otherwise I see both denied franchises and playing out their days in NL1, or Joining to become 'Calder' a thought that neither fan would like.

A joint venture and ground is the only sensible option IMO.

Complete and total common sense mate, thats why it will probably never happen.

Fat blokes in the mud, flat caps, bogs that drain pi55 directly onto your boots - Now it's all 'Big Ask', 'Arm Wrestle', 'Collision' 'Contact' 'Facials' 'Upper Body Strength' 'Big Units' 'Scooting from Dummy Half' 'Energy Levels' 'Laying the Platform' ‘Middles’ and 'T-R-Y'. Let’s not forget resilience.

Given the current economic climate, I'm wondering whether the RFL will quietly drop the ground standards section from the licence renewal requirements.

Junior development costs too. Drop that also? Unemploment hits hardest in the North usually - so scrap the expansion policy in favour of admitting a club in an economically deprived area (Widnes) ? :)

Anyway, the news about the recession will filter through to the RFL in about 2011.

Most likely yes

As Leigh now have the use of the most modern RL stadium in this country that part of the criteria will be dropped

We are a very lucky club

SOMEBODY SAID that it couldn’t be done
But he with a chuckle replied
That “maybe it couldn’t,” but he would be one
Who wouldn’t say so till he’d tried.
So he buckled right in with the trace of a grin
On his face. If he worried he hid it.
He started to sing as he tackled the thing
That couldn’t be done, and he did it!

Referees are the only guys who can rob you and then get a police escort out of the stadium.
