i dont know if we can blame the refs for this because it seems to happen every game now, there doesnt seem to be a consistant approach for it to be refereed, he has let plenty go but punished lesser offences which (whilst im not saying it has happened in this case because Saints have been the better team) can mean the game isnt won by the best team
at the moment that part of the game is almost universally poorly refereed,
saying that he reffed it well during a hot few minutes but he let some pretty poor stuff go
The biggest problem at the play the ball is that they don't.
The majority of players now don't play the ball with their foot. We are obsessed with quick play the balls and dummy half scoots.
The real hooker craftsmen are being lost to the game, players who could open up a defence with a great pass, and being replaced by the Highams and Robys of this world.
Make the players play the ball correctly or penalise them until they do.
