I think we should have promotion and relegation decided on the field of play
Personnaly I couldn't give a stuff about stadia, attendances or any other criteria , as long as everybody is playing to the same set of rules then I am happy
It is after all a sport , or at least that's where you will find it in the media
That's good, but that's not the topic. Licensing is here and will be here to stay for a long time by the looks of things. If you don't want to discuss the point because you don't agree with the point of licensing then you might as well stop discussing it.
It is professional sport. Professional sport plays by different rules as it involves people's jobs and livelihood. If you want to see everyone playing on a level playing field, that's amateur sport for you. Do you think there should be promotion and relegation between Championship 1 and RLCN as well?

Only after a few rounds of franchise applications can we truly assess whether the RFL are using the criteria fairly or whether it's a means of selecting whoever they want to kick out or bring in. I know people harp on about it not mattering about good attendances but i think a full house always shows the game in a good light so on that basis (as well as on the field strength) that would be my main "get into Super League card". I know - it's not very practical, especially for getting a young club such as Celtic into SL but there you go - just my opinion.
I think it's easier to get a full-house at an expansion club than for them to get a 10,000 average or 40% capacity average.

I made a throwaway post basically giving my opinion of the thread , ie a daft idea in my opinion
Unfortunatley it seems our friend wanted to get personal , I could have complained to the mods as he was without doubt infringing some of the AUP rules and potentially giving a legal problem
I decided not to , I answered his question and then asked him a similar one
He declined and then further insulted me
I will take your advise and decline to discuss further

SOMEBODY SAID that it couldn’t be done But he with a chuckle replied That “maybe it couldn’t,” but he would be one Who wouldn’t say so till he’d tried. So he buckled right in with the trace of a grin On his face. If he worried he hid it. He started to sing as he tackled the thing That couldn’t be done, and he did it!

That's fair enough, your opinion. But everything about licensing it appears you find daft so don't be offended if I don't take much value in it.
It appears Glenn has reeled in a pretty big fish though. Try not rise to it.

As long as this board tolerates the constant baiting of certain clubs by nice people like ‘Glenn Morangie’, perfectly good topics of discussion will end up derailed in the usual pathetic slanging matches.
On thread drift:

Little Pepe went to nursery school one day wearing his Widnes hat. His teacher asked him why he was a Widnes fan. He said, “Because my parents are.” His teacher said, “That’s not good. What would you do if your parents were drug dealers and hookers?” He replied, “Well then I would be a Warrington fan.”
There's a Wooly over there, baggy kecks and feathered hair with a 3 star jumper half way up his back, that’s a fecking Wooly back! Oooh-to… Oooh-to-be… Oooh-to-be-a… WOOLY!
I would love it if we filled the JJB more often I havnt been to a modern ground with a better atmosphere when its full.
We should be filling for Saints and Wire and maybe even Leeds but there away support is poor.
Dropkick Murphy..we actually saw and heard a mass of bouncing and scarf and flag waving to Dale Cavese that drowned out anything we could muster.. It stopped us singing our own celebratory songs, it died out seconds later when we accepted we couldn't be heard over the Wigan lot Celebrations muted from us, job done from them. Most fans who slag them off are jealous their own club's support is nowhere near that good - sally cinnamon..Why not discuss Wigan? It's a rugby league message board. Wigan are the most famous brand in rugby league - Tre Cool..Saints fans are hopeless unless it's a cup final or grand final. Wigan fans are so much more loyal and passionate - the flying biscuit..Wires havent been massively succesful over the years, but I've spoke to Brian Bevan And he spoke to me and i wouldnt swap that for Wigans History, ever - Ande..on the TV i could only hear the Wigan fans with about 10 to go - Saint94..Every team is in your feckin shadow, we all know - FIOS

Wires' away support is rarely poor to Wigan. When I went last year there was 20 odd thousand and Wire fans were in your side stand soo think its your job chief

As long as some people tolerate sloppy management and administration of their clubs it looks like RL will never be as strong as it could be.
What do you think should be in the criteria? Just numbers attending games or increase/decrease?
I think that demanding clubs meet specific criteria can only be good for the game as a whole. Clear targets for clubs to meet encourage improvement across the board to reach the minimum standards required and since the criteria cover a wide range of targets clubs and the game should benefit in the long term.
I have doubts about the effectiveness of some of the published criteria for the next round of franchise applications for example the (apparently arbitrary) 40% average attendance and 12,000 capacity stadium requirement. Why would a club build or move to a stadium greater than 12,000 capacity when all that does is make the 40% average attendance point more difficult to earn?
So what we now have is a raft of new stadiums/plans all around the 12,000 capacity mark. If the "attendance" point was based on say a percentage growth in average attendance (rather than a percentage of the stadium capacity) then I'm sure some of the new stadia may well have been bigger, which may be better in the long (longer than 3 years) term.
A franchise point for achieveing a sell out, in itself, does little for the game or the club.
