Plenty of times. In open play though. This wasn't in open play. It was during a possible try scoring opportunity and we have the benefit of the VR to adjudge on it. There the VR correctly judges that the ball came free from the contest in a backwards motion and was touched down by Buchanan. That's why the try was given. The VR doesn't come up with nonsensical judgement of "The ball is dropped backwards lots of times and given as knock-ons so I've got to give a knock-on too."
