Please change the name of this thread the new club's got f all to do with Northampton Saints RUFC.
I think its brilliant, Gateshead, 2 x London, South Wales, North Wales, + 4 new clubs. Generally if a new pro RL club with any decent foundations is introduced they survive these days and it can only be a good thing for the game and playing numbers.
i think its a good move by the rfl...the cloth cappers will think that northampton has something to do with the north, and the rest of us can hope its a success. i look forward to new franchises also in northwich, north acton and north allerton in the near future

the facts are your only thinking all that because your a first class idiot. Am i right?,i'm not wrong.
Its funny to see the same people, making the same complaints about a different situation but then claiming they arent against expansion and getting all uppity because people dont believe them.
How about this, we watch, and wait. We encourage ambition and we give opportunities.
How about we accept we dont know if a Northampton RL team will be in SL in 2,4,6,10 or 100 years because we dont know how successful it will be. It would be ridiculous to promote them in 2 years if they are getting 2 or 3 hundred people and are struggling to compete, similarly it would be ridiculous to keep them in the lower leagues if they win C1 in 2013 and the Championship the year after in front of 5k averages. Anybody proclaiming their success or failure 15 months before their first semi-pro game is clearly an idiot.

aboveusonlypie... If you don't bother to go to the game when you live in the locality then you are not really a fan and therefore your views are invalid. It's simple.
This is great for the game. If you're going to expand this is the way to start. The four new teams that go into Champ 1 will have to develop from grass roots, and with support from the RFL and meaningful SL club link ups, have every chance of succeeding. Much rather we build community clubs that can grow at their own pace, than fast-track a team of second rate Aussies.

This is the point some of us have been arguing for, for years, its the only way you can build sustainable long term success.Unfortunately some people on this particular MB thought it better to just invent clubs stick them in sl and hope for the best. The rfl have seen the folly of this policy,i wonder if the posters on here have finally realized it too?.
