Whilst the wigan fans celebrated like they had each won the lottery, I feel the best thing that could have happened to Wigan was relgation. All the contracts would have been null and void meaning they had the perfect oppurtunity to start afresh and lose all the dead wood. Instead, what happens is that they have an awful time in the league, manage to scrape a couple of wins in the play offs against randoms and then their fans hail next season as being the one they reclaim their crown. This will happen again this year.

One local asked a mate of mine what the score was and his amazed response was "what? Bridgend beat Wigan?" - they don't even know the name of the side. Another amazingly asked if "Martin Offiah still played for Wigan?". Knowledgeable about the game they are not!





Didn't see that many shirts around either (apart from the ground obviously), apart from a couple of fans I remember in the Wetherspoons with a fella in a Salford shirt.

What makes you think they don't still have that ambition?

At least they are asking questions, which has got to be better than pretending the game doesn't exist. (Knowing that Offiah used to play for Wigan also indicates that the local in question knew a little about RL - I'd be struggling to name any club any RU player ever played for, except that I remember David Watkins came from Newport and Keith Fielding from Coventry).

Well thats true but I did get a lot of union this, union that guff. They are certainly bitter at how the Celtic Warriors Union side was axed out the blue in 2004. I think the RFL missed a trick though by not having a big launch night for the club. Unlike previous franchises this side played it's first two games away from home. They should have started with a big televised launch night at home like Catalans did against Wigan.

Have you considered they may have appeared to be uninterested because they were disappointed in just scraping past a lowly northern second rate side-Just a thought

These digs hilairous as ever. Really pains me.

Thing about our fans is that they come from all over South Wales and the West. You do see a few fans wandering about in Cru shirts but they could be anywhere within a 60-100 mile radius. Be lucky if 50% of our fans there on the weekend come from Bridgend.
