As the manager of the SMC surely his role is to bring in as much money from ground hire as possible. If I was the council I would want a please explain from him why he has turned down tens of thousands of pounds, not to mention the meony visiting fans bring in commerce for the city.
Re his comments he is either very brave or very stupid to insult Hull RL fans!!
WEST COAST PIRATES NRL expansion? Sometime soon, maybe......

Tbh I don't even think its the fact they are in the Premier League. Manchester United still allow us to book Old Trafford each year for the Grand Final despite the fact the highest profile football manager in the world who manages the club there whinges about it nearly every year. It's the first time the current chairman of the SMC has had to negotiate an RL international and tbh I think he is selfish and a disgrace

'Community' stadium my arris, if City did not exist it would not have been built, if FC did not exist it would. It was built mainly with football in mind and RL/FC will always play second fiddle to City. James Rule should be shouting his disgust at this insult to RL in Hull instead of 'no comment' the spineless little toad.

Not once have Hull City been unfairly put over Hull FC since it opened, and vice versa. In fact, the only time there has been a big issue was when a Hull City game against Ipswich was moved to a different kick off time so that Hull FC could play at the kick off time Sky wanted.
Agree about James Rule though. It's a shame there seems to be such animosity (sp) between the boards at FC and KR as a joint statement from both Rule and Hudgel slating the decision and the reason behind it would have been much more effective than the dribs and drabs that are coming out from both clubs at the moment

Thing is, I don't really see why it's Rule or Hudgell's business. It's not like they're getting any money out of it. If people want to watch top-class RL, they'll have to go to FC or KR now.

How could the council warrant building a near £50m stadium on a Division Three football club?
If you think it would have happened without FC, you are deluding yourself.

Under law an authority cannot build a stadium for one club it is not legal or ethical.
Look at the Council minutes if you want confirmation of this in fact the then Leader of the Council Pat Doyle had to assure the full council that it would be used by at least 2 clubs (Rovers turned the chance down) before the project was voted on!
Without both hull Fc and Hull City signing up to play there it would not have been built!

I think you'll find that it wouldn't have been built just for one team. Quoting from the following thread....

International games are a great way of attracting new fans to the game, if they are used correctly
