NRL local derbies in Sydney have been hit by pokie taxes which have raised prices.

There is nothing like a QLD local derby however. Broncos v Cowboys or Broncos v Titans

I don't think the QLD local derbies are all that inspiring. Potentially one day they may be, however at the moment most peoples "2nd team" is the other QLD side, therefore the derbies generally lack the hatred of say the old Manly v Norths or St G v Cronulla games.

We do however have a 3 game derby in the middle of the year that is a doozie, and the Poms have nothing that comes close to it.

Broncos v Cowboys infront of 52k fans at Suncorp is inspiring at least to the supporters of those teams

A crowd that big will always be an excitement pot. The battle itself just doesn't have the real 'hatred' factor - yet .
That said, it's definitely grown in stature since the Cows have become a competitive team, however that's only happened in recent history.
