Well done Wilkin for saying exactly what I have been saying. If it was a saints player who did what Ashworth did it would have been a yellow card and a 3 match ban. Not even a penalty to saints. Good on him for calling Leeds cheats as well

That is why St Helens are the greatest English rugby league team ever (before Wigan fans pipe up, you won the majority of your titles playing against drunks and chimney sweepers while you were full time professionals). Beat a quality hudds team who had the benefit of the ref on their side. That was a shocking ref display. Utterly embarassing. No wonder sky want nothing to do with our game

Its just further evidence that Saints are reffed slightly differently, Lomax gets hit with force after releasing the ball and the ref sends Lomax off the field for 2 minutes. Commentary is similar that ex Wigoon Bell End Clarke now saying the ref should looking at changing the rules when Saints give away set res-starts, he calls it cheating in his post match commentary. Kevin Brown really showed up Clarke in the way the game is played instead of the way Clarke wants it played.
On the game itself thought it was heroic for both teams to hammer away for the full 80 mins. Both the Giants and Saints will get better as the season progresses.
The new young dynasty of super saints is coming to a ground near you. Welsby-Dodd-Simms-Eaves-Rizzelli, not Eastmond...the future is coming.

And if they don't, it leaves a great opportunity for other clubs (apart from Saints or Hudds) to win the big prizes. Now that would be nice.

Huddersfield wouldn't look so good if they didn't cheat and use a dangerous pitch to take out one of our heroes in the first minute.
How did such a dangerous pitch that caused Mata'tua to fail a HIA not get penalised? If that was the glorious turf at the Totally Wicked stadium it would have got a 2 match ban, at least. Another example of bent refereeing and another name in my book of enemies.

As tedious as this thread is, it's probably the right place to make observations about this Saints squad (who clearly can be stopped) so I'll throw my two penneth in.
One of the things that is helping make them so successful is that they've found a couple of ways to break the rules that are seemingly never going to get penalised any more and it's giving them tiny advantages at least once or twice every set. When they're attacking and their player is tackled they either move forward in the process of getting up, or after playing the ball move forward and engage the first marker - Walmsley in particular does this on practically every carry. When defending they have the standard late man in to slow down the ruck, but there's also a real tendency to get off their man at the back of the ruck and make no attempt to move so that the attacking hooker/acting 9 can access the ball - this happened probably half a dozen times last night, too many times to be chance, they're clearly coached to get up and stand in the way. Combine these factors with their apparent willingness to give away six agains and you've got them being allowed a huge amount of control over the speed of the game that they shouldn't have.
And before the over sensitive Saints fans come charging on, yes, I know all sides have moments when these things happen, it just doesn't seem coached into them, it doesn't seem part of their game plan. Much like when we were all criticising Wigan for trapping arms and cannonballing, just because they happened at other teams didn't mean they weren't a bigger culprit.
Also, I'm not blaming Saints, I'm blaming the authorities, because every single one of those things should be penalised and they've gone too far on the leniency in search of a faster game. If you penalised those things they'd largely stop and you'd still have a faster game.
