this means clubs can actually use the players they pay and not see their wages sat on a physios bench

I would prefer a even comp IMO, we all do have SQUADS and that would force us to use them, instead of fringe players been paid to sit in the stands.

What happens when all the best players switch to RU because they see it as big time and RL as small time?

Then all the SL clubs will be loved and it won't matter a jot to someone who's club is in the Championship?

Little Pepe went to nursery school one day wearing his Widnes hat. His teacher asked him why he was a Widnes fan. He said, “Because my parents are.” His teacher said, “That’s not good. What would you do if your parents were drug dealers and hookers?” He replied, “Well then I would be a Warrington fan.”

There's a Wooly over there, baggy kecks and feathered hair
with a 3 star jumper half way up his back, that’s a fecking Wooly back!

Oooh-to… Oooh-to-be… Oooh-to-be-a… WOOLY!

why would that all of a sudden happen now? has the game suddenly become impoverished?
creating these expansion teams could do more harm than good, have you considered that?

I think it would if it ran out of TV money and sponsorship is the point. I don't think you're covering yourself in much glory in your posts on this thread. :D

quite a few clubs have been and/or are less than financially healthy and there's nothing sudden about it

-well maybe they ought to make alterations to their financial structures then

-i base that on the fact that i believe many of these 'expansion' clubs would do better in the long run if they were made to grow gradually, rather than just being thrown in at the deep end. would it be good for the game if everyone abandoned celtic because they werent able to compete at the top level for 3 seasons and everybody lost interest?

They have grown gradually. Celtic played their way up to the NL1 Grand Final last year. They'd have been in based on that if there was no franchising.

RU has moved forward in many ways since it went pro and there's big money in it now to go along with a full slate of meaningful Internationals. RL has to keep up (if not close the gap) or fall behind, it's that simple. The days of being able to stick to the game's traditional areas are gone and that's all there is to it.
