Maybe the clubs wanted to change them.

The original kit directives can be amended by clubs who all want around a 50-50 split in which kit they wear - for obvious commercial reasons.

If Hull KR have a one-off orange and grey affair, surely the best place to advertise said kit would be in one of the biggest games of the year? There's also the fact that fans buying the alternative strip feel a bit ripped off if the team only play in it 4 or 5 times.

Good points, but we also wore our navy blue away kit at their's last year and at MM. :? Just don't see why they can't keep with tradition and both wear their home kits. As daft as it might sound, IMO the occassion/rivalry is diluted slightly when one of the teams runs out in their away kit. COuld you imagine Rangers v Celtic with one of them in their away kit?!

I think that answers your question of where the clash is.

Last season, Hull's kit was pretty much completely white from the back (where they leave it plain so you can see the number). Same as Rovers. From the front, both were about 75% white at least. If you don't think that two kits that are about 90% white don't clash then what is the point in having an away kit?

Hull have a much blacker kit this year (probably to do with the number of colour clashes last season, i.e. Wigan, Bradford and Hudds), and Rovers' a bit more red, so it may not be as much of an issue.

Yeah I get what you mean. I mean, could you imagine if Man Utd vs Liverpool with one of them in their away kit? Or Man Utd vs Arsenal? Or St Helens vs Wigan?

Oh wait...

Yes it does sound daft. If two teams have a majority white home kit, one has to wear an away kit. It's what they're there for, and shouldn't change just because of who the opposition team are. Common sense needs to prevail over sentiment.

it is no good letting the ref call the shots on the colour of kits, the other week at salford against hull( in light blue and white kit) the match officials turned out in all light blue for the first half and in orange for the second half. just think if we where in Australia with the extra time rule what there have changed to?
