I know the difference between the different sponsorships.....Guiness sponsors the Sky coverage in the same way that Irn Bru sponsors the Super League coverage.

Not to defend Union too much, but all their matches are on Sky when most sports fans are either playing or watching grass roots or pro sport live. What I'm saying is in general there are more people at home watching telly on a Friday evening and Saturday tea time than there are on a Saturday afternoon.

The coverage is nothing to do with it, Guinness sponsors the Guinness Premiership. The clue is in the name. If you think otherwise, you need to take more water with whatever you're drinking.

There is actually a new guinness premiership deal from 2010-11 which will see Sky reduce it's coverage from 33 matches to 26 matches but Setanta will share coverage and show an additional 43 matches. So the result is more than doubling the leagues coverage.
The deal is worth £54 million and represents a 45% increase in revenue. Far as I can read the England Internationals is a seperate contract.

That seems harsh on RL, it must be the type of advertiser RU attract.
If Setanta do go under RU willl be in big trouble. The rfu must have done their research and are satified setanta will around for the duration of their contract.
Maybe someonw could do their dissertation on the subject.

Guiness also sponsor the SKY TV programme, in the same way that Irn Bru sponsor coverage of the Engage Super League.....is that so hard to understand?

The Magners League would suffer more as they are Setanta only (bar the matches S4C shows in Wales)
