Bottom line is league has been getting terrible press for years now because of the dreadful behaviour of so many off the field, and Johns has been caught in the crossfire. Bad luck or timing doesn't matter - once this came out it was bound to be all over for him.

Whilst what johns and co did was not 'illegal' it was pretty grubby (not the first revelation of sordid group sex leading to complaints either - see the Broncos and Bulldogs for details on that one). If that was your daughter what would you think? Whilst 'footy fans' might be on his side, the vast majority of women want Johns lynched as far as I can tell.

We can all talk about whether league players should/shouldn't be 'role models', but to be frank its about time the late night fighting and other assorted sordid behaviour like this case led to a mass clearout of players if that's what it takes to clean up the sport's image.

The other codes here have their problems but league seems to have a peculiarly time-warped 70s culture where the 'lads' think they can get away with anything.

The problem here - not surprisingly lost on yourself - is a credibility one - how can Johns possibly make comment on others when his actions/morals have been shown to questionable to say the least.

He is not fronting a XXX channel but a prime time serious sports programme - if you were a broadcaster is this the behaviour you would expect from one of your hosts?

Whilst you are slapping him on the back for his supposed macho behaviour spare a thought for the embarrasment his wife and children will be suffering. Johns knew what he was doing and the possible reprocusions - all he has got is his just desserts.

Dally is not alone in that line of thinking - ask Mark Gasnier, Harmichael, Taiday the list of Aussie men who think this type of behaviour is acceptable is long no wonder most consider them socially inept.

It turns out that the woman involved in the gangbang bragged about it to her workmates but then, for some reason, complained to the Police a week later. Make of that what you will.
