If two teams have fought a hard game and come out equal, why should one be denied a point because of some desire to create a result out of nothing. Stupid idea.

In 1907, the St George district had a club in the Sydney rugby union competition. Interestingly, the team's area was referred to as the 'Illawarra suburbs'. A resolution to form a St George rugby league club was made at a local meeting held in early 1908, but the movement faltered and collapsed. St George, wearing the district colours of red and white, played in the NSWRL's Third Grade competition in 1910, and formed a President's Cup team in 1911. References were found at the time to district teams being called 'The Saints'.the perfect 11

Agreed both teams will probably have had a few late drop goal attempts anyway and if it ends a draw so be it.

Think "Extra Time" is required first (10 minutes each way?) and then if its still deadlocked Golden Point comes in.
However, in Last Years Cup Final Program, it did say that in the event of a draw the match would be replayed and details of a venue would be announced the following Tuesday. with the game a week on wednesday.

In the NHL, they give the equivalent of one point each team for the draw, then a bonus point to the team that wins in sudden death - that's how it should be done, gthe Dragons at least deserved something for their effort last night. One thing I noticed, though, Dragon player carries ball at the guts, and is tackled around the chest - the Dragons players then shift the ball up to their chests in an attempt (in my eyes) to make the Storm arms make "unneccesary contact with the head/neck"

Draws dont happen much anymore do they? why would anybody tip a draw? I've decided I dont like golden point, its just whoever is closest to the opposing teams line that wins. IMHO. or this idea - we should go back to the draw. But if the NRl really want golden point, then make it fairer: If you win a match in normal time, you get 3 points, team that wins in extra time = 2, team that loses in extra time =1, teams that lose in normal time =0. Reward a team that has drawn after 80 minutes.

No in challenge cup it is straight to golden point other than the final which will be replayed after a draw after 80 minutes.

the so called "golden point" is a typically half-baked Aussie nutjob innovation. A hard fought draw is just that, and if the teams can't be separated after 80 minutes then they each [i]deserve[/] a point. It is wrong in principle to demand that one of them must lose, when they didn't.
Comparing this with a Cup game is pretty barking, since last i heard, (a) a winer is pretty much a requirement, but mainly (b) you don't get points in a Cup game, win, lose or draw.
It is also barking seeing as the Aussies constantly tell us the players need to play less and less rugby, yet when they have given everything for 80 minutes, they're apparently happy to force them to play on until fatigue wins out, and someone bangs over the inevitable DG.
Golden point in League games is total rubbish.
